I recommend reading giveaway descriptions. Sometimes they contain important information. Sometimes you can even get another chance at the game you're trying to win. Which seems like a pretty good deal!

I'm not "falling for" anything. I was just clarifying the situation for him. I don't care enough to spend any more time on it.
If the impact to his CV was permanent, I might be inclined to care... but it's just temporary, so it's meaningless overall.
