[UPDATE] You guys do realize that I am just not talking about the sale, consider it the last straw. I mean butchering the trade system, region locks, rumored (further) price increases in the EU regions, atrocious customer service, laggy unresponsive client, repeatedly crashing servers, neglected faithful gaming communities (TF2) and so on. (ah also the flood of s**t called Greenlight and the Early Access model that produces 9 failures out of 10 attempts, with the "success" being a half-baked mediocre game at best)

[RANT]

I am seriously thinking that Valve is starting to lose the crowd. This sale is disappointing, no event, no good games on sale, no interesting sales. It's just an ordinary boring storefront now.

I know I know they don't have to do this, they don't have to do anything but these little events and quirks were the things that really set Steam aside from the other vendors.

They also killed game trading, spat in the eyes of the TF2 community with an insult of an update (End of the Line) and they only care about milking their F2P cash-cows and not developing a game. The Steam client is still laggy and full of bugs, and their servers crash almost ever other week. I'm starting to think that they simply ran out of ideas and now they'll slowly kill over and die

Probably it is time for a new company to take their place, and do something fresh. Valve might become the next Blockbuster LLC

[RANT OVER]

Anyway I understand if you disagree, it is just an opinion, so take it easy. You think I am entitled? Well yeah I am a paying customer/consumer, of course I am entitled lol.

"This sale is disappointing... no good games on sale"

What? There are plenty of great games on sale. Just because you own them does not diminish that fact that they are still great and they are indeed on sale. Right now, Portal 2, Alien Isolation, Shadow Warrior, Bulletstorm, Prison Architect, Metro 2033. All good to great. Those are just the ones I would consider "must own" that are on sale right now!

Yes Valve is not perfect but to this point I call shenanigans.

I'll have to agree here. Was it only the rather (let's face it) uninteresting winter sale, I'd be not saying a word, but all the others listed are making me more and more hyped for GOG's Galaxy app. I can't even defend their stupid region lock bullshit, seeing how they did, and potentially will fuck me up with it in the future too. First, they retroactively region locked my preordered version of Thief to the point of me not being able to use it for shit, then now they have the balls to promise no retroactive locks on the update page? Eat my shit for that, kindly. Then there's the fact that I might actually move to Britain next year, which will possibly cause some trouble through their shitty region locks, but let's hope it's resolvable.

And their support? Well, they were at least kind of fast and effective on my cases, but they seriously need to drop the "this is your fault so feel privileged for being helped out here" messages I get after every reply. Honestly, this isn't the way you treat your costumers, and this is coming from a former insurance agent for fuck's sake.

Valve should also be developing games, too IMO. I think Steam should be spun off to a dedicated team or become an entirely different division in itself.

Would think they already are. I doubt their game developers are working at customer support. :D

How is steam such a horrible platform? Your pissed cause their a business? Shocking. I'll rather buy my games on steam than say Else where were i have to buy the SAME game 2-3 times if i want to play it from gen to gen. Steam kinda has you covered. So they kinda dropped the ball on Country trading games between one another at lower prices but if they were not being abused im sure they would of just let it be but when your whole user base is shopping elsewhere to buy games on your service and YOUR NOT CHARGING ANY MONTHLY FEE than you kinda need to bring them back to buying from you and not elsewhere. DO they need to look at how much they charging each country for their games, ya but they did just change how games are being sold so might be some delay. Now if they dont fix it so we're all paying fair amounts for our games (WHY THE F WOULD YOU BUY ANY GAME ON STEAM UNLESS IT WAS ON SALE OR A BUNDLE BLOWS MY MIND).

How dare Valve take away our ability to exploit region pricing system. ITS OUR GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO ABUSE THE SYSTEM THAT WAS TO MAKE GAMES AFFORDABLE TO POORER REGIONS! ( Rant c);p )

I just bought a 500 GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD for my Steam library, now i can have more than 11 games installed at once
The money I have saved from buying cheaper games has afforded me this nice little luxury ( I own 3 SSDs now)
I used to own a PS4 and I sold the warranty replacement after it died within 5 months
That platform is a joke, PSN is a joke, XBL is a joke, people moaning and whinging abt Steam prices, who the hell forces them to use Steam?
Waaah WAAAAH somebody call Jimmy Hendrix, I'm breaking his WAA WAA Pedal..

Kids on here complaining, yeah starving kids in Africa don't get to whinge abt Steam pricing, well cause they don't have to worry abt games do they?

Only "kid" in here is you, kid.
You're 17 for fucks sake, you're not even spending your own cash, you weren't even on steam last winter sale and on top of that you're the one complaining not the other way around, people are venting their opinion on the subject and you're just in here showing off that you can't even read properly.
Price isn't the only issue here, but is seems that despite 140+ comments you can't seem to grasp that.

Thats bad for people like Russians,as they can't gift to non Russian people and only to our people. Also, non Russian people get cheaper games if they got it from Russian trader, provoided its DRM free. On 2nd side,it pervented exploits and well much less unfair trades. BTW,our old gifts are safe from region lock as well auction gifts(expect DRM ones). Sad we can't give gifts to those who live away from us.

would not wonder when bundles is the next thing cause the russian bots start to exploit it - look on g2a - they dont sell cheap russian games anymore, they spam it now with bundle games

and YES its 99% russian sellers cause everytime i buy something on g2a its an ru email or some russian guy sending me the gift

but hey - when steam say no to bundles someday than this guyz start same stupid threads again

not steam is the problem - you fkn exploiters are the problem and the reason why we can´t have nice things

have a nice day

No idea how can be sale boring but okey,, steam is not going to fail,, TF2 has update like every other week right? beside it you can still use workshop maps on your server, no need for official update,, region lock is good, they edited price for poor countries and then they abused it for profit,, Greenlight is awesome in my opinion, even a small developer has a chance, i guess you watched totalbiscuits video and now you hate it right? early access, nobody ever asked you to buy anything, it is about supporting developers so they can finish the game, sure there are some shit games,, i see you have 250 hours in tf2, so i guess you are pretty new to the game right? so your opinion is based on that video, because you have literally no idea how game changed since it became f2p, blaming them for doing 1 bad update and 200 good updates, good job

The word named 250 hours is bad is wrong right there. People at those hours already become experienced. For gift section its partically fine and not fine. Fine because no exploits whatsover, and not fine because we can't gift to outside friends.

sure he is experienced, but i don't believe he played tf2 before 2014,, you can still send gift to your friends via email/purchase gift no?(with default price?)

region lock is restriction of valve to keep money for themselves. If i bought and sell for USA i taking VALVE's money because if buyer don't bought from me he bought it from steam.
now i don't understand how i can buy when course of $ is too high in my region. it's pointless anyway. (i live in ukraine and we don't have RUB on Steam wallet. we have a USD )
now i have nothing to buy for my native money and i can't sell anything because region lock >__<, and i need to find a RUS friend to buy for me in RUB because its a 50% off almost on every game( its mean when game have price $2.99 90% off, in rub it is a 76 RUB in $ it is a $1.06)

and sorry for my french :D

VOLVO HAS CHANGED A RULE AND RELEASED A BAD FREE COMMUNITY-MADE UPDATE THIS MEANS STEAM IS DYING STEAM IS GOING TO SHIT NOW, THE WORST THING EVER LET'S ALL USE UPLAY AND ORIGIN FOR NOW GOD'S SAKE HOW COULD GABEN DO THAT THIS IS SO DISSAPOINTING. ITZ LIKE THEY FORGOT TO PUT AIRBAGS ON THEIR CARS AND THEY ARE NOT REALIABLE NOW.
AND ALSO NOT EVERY SINGLE GAME IS 99% OFF AND NOT ALL NEW 1-2 MONTH OLD FULL PRICE GAMES AREN'T 90% OFF THIS IS FULL BULLSHIT FROM STEAM RIGHT HERE LET'S GO KILL GABEN!!1!!1!!!1

I MEAN THE TRADING ASPECT AND THE TF2 UPDATES ARE THE ONLY THING THAT STEAM HAS, WITHOUT THOSE WE CAN"T PLAY GUMEZ AND THERE ARE NO SERVERS FOR GAMEZZZ.

TF2 players logic
Update with hats + Map = Best update ever, gg volvo keep making good reliable cars you are the best

Update with hats = worst update ever, tf2 is going to shit now, this is the worst game ever, nobody will play it anymore and will die in one week. It's like volvo forgot to put airbags on their cars and they are not reliable now...

Even when Valve handicaps itself, it still provides a significant amount more convenience than any other service.

You won't move to GOG because you'll never get games as cheap. You won't move to Origin because it has no social, gifting, trading, or anything platform. You won't move to Uplay because it's Uplay. GFWL is already dead. And Desura it's still a platform for games that can't make it anywhere.

There's still no other option that even competes no matter how many bad moves Valve makes. The only time will be when prices are too high in a local region and another service provides local currency rates. But then you could just trade US traders anyway.

Your opinion is a bit valid , but steam is too big to simply fail because things that they can VERY SIMPLY be fixed. they just need to stop being lazy and look at the community

The trade system was limited only in the places where it's abused, nobody is making u buy Early Access games and to say there are no good games on sales is just plain ridiculous. Entitled first world problems.

Very simple solution for your issue - stop using Steam. I had problems with a brand of refrigerators. Bought one, it broke down, got it replaced, broke down again. I just gave it back to the shop and bought another brand. I stopped supporting one that's breaking things. You do the same, no need for rants and entitlements. This is capitalism - you vote with your money. And as long as you berate Steam and keep using it... Your rants are meaningless.
