A better question is why the original version still exists (needed for mods I suppose), or is still so expensive. 1+2+3/expac base price is $22.99. The upgraded BFG edition with all three and expac included is $19.99

Because there are hundred of mods for the original DOOM games that don't work with BFG EDITION.

Its good it does, because BFG Edition doesn't work as well as the originals for some people. Later ID titles like it, Rage, etc, will refuse to run for some users.

Official response is to update your drivers. Which has failed to fix the problem for many users, of course, but hey, not like they care. They got their money.

DOOM 3 is the game I'm currently playing (I only play one game at a time). After I figured I'd play Resurrection of Evil and then move on to BFG to see the differences. :)
