I only feel ...
I love kebab.
I'm the kind of guy that really loves his own native's land cuisine above all, but that at the same time loves eating everything from all over the world.
So I visited practically every ethnic restaurant available in Northern Italy - too bad we don't have the variety that the States have, but we've got lots of ethnic restaurants too and they're all awesome!
I ate in an Iranian restaurant and a month after, some days ago, at a Lebanese one, and both told me that the cuisine of the Maghreb likes to steal food from the Middle-East and make mix-ups with them and their own food.. the Lebanese restaurant owner was particularly upset by the way the Moroccans (I think) re-visit their tabouleh.. if I remember well.. =P
Anyways, I love kebab in all its forms!

thanks a lot! =)
my main issue is that I don't know a single word of Arabic, it's too difficult for me.. so I don't remember the names! =P
Well, it was this Lebanese chef mainly, the Iranian ones too, but this Lebanese guy who has been living here in Italy for 30 years, kept on listing me all the dishes of their cuisine that the Arabs from the Maghreb "reinvented" like, putting cous cous into or other ingredients.. but I really don't know the origin of all those dishes, I just love the cuisine and I should try way more the Maghreb one.. unfortunately here in Italy we have very few Arabic restaurants (there are lots of Arabs, but they usually are pizza chefs or they blend in too much into our culture =P and I love kebab but I'd love to eat in other restaurants with full Arab menus!), I'm planning to go in the next weeks to a Tunisian restaurant anyways and see how great it is =D

Yeah I think the nomadic tribes of the Maghreb have traveled a little all over so I doubt we'll ever know who started what but honestly, no offense to Lebanese food, which is alright, Moroccan cuisine is way richer in terms of ingredients and techniques. And if they borrowed things here and there, they undoubtedly made them better ;)

LOL they mostly took the name though. Both are very different but ethnic food rivalry is one of the best things about food.
Don't get them started on Greek food ok?
