What is your giveaway white whale? The games you always immediately jump on for a chance to win and never do.

Mine are frog detective and creepy games (I won the first one and 100% it so now I’m just trying to get the last few), I love the idea of those games. I also find I’m curious as to what others are also going for that may not be the most wish listed game or etc. :)

Do you only enter wish listed games?

View Results
Yes, why go for games that I’m not sure I’m going to play
No, sometimes a game will intrigue me and I’ll enter for the fun of it
No, I don’t enter giveaways at all, I just like being social

Hi-Fi Rush, P4 Golden, Slay the Spire, Hollow Knight are definetly all insta-join, but no luck so far :D

Major JRPGs: Final Fantasy, Legend of Heroes, Trails, Ys, etc. My favorite genre, but I haven't won a single one I've entered.

Lucius was such an unfun game, I think the RNG gods are saving you from it, tbh. I own it because I watched Cryiotic (rip) and now regret years, if not decade later.

True, main reason I haven't bought it to end the hunt...
but just like Moby Dick it keeps haunting me, mostly bcs I like to play my wins, but don't want to play a sequel if I haven't play the previous game yet.

my white whales are mostly the unbundled AAA/quality indies that I have wishlisted.

low(for most part) odds of winning, so not getting them is expected.

Streets of Rogue
Nobody Want to Die – lately
Blasphemus 2
Eastward
Quantic Dream games
Red Dead Redemption – I'll probably end up buying it at some point because I've really enjoyed RDR2

And a couple of games that are rarely given away.

For the longest time, it was Detroit: Become Human, until I finally broke down and bought it.
Now? It's hard to say. Maybe Stray and Balatro. I've entered each of them exactly 44 times.

Don't think there are any bundled games that I'd consider white whales. If there's something I really want, I'll usually buy it or trade for it. Counting on SG to get a specific game isn't the best strategy.

I enter giveaways mostly for fun and the for the chance to win/play something that I wouldn't have otherwise. I've discovered some cool games this way.

Definitely a game worth buying for yourself. I was lucky enough to win it and I regretted not buying it earlier.

Not only did I buy a copy for myself, I even got a second copy for a friend after I enjoyed it so much.

I really need to go back to explore the rest of its branching story paths. There's still a lot left for me to discover.

That's where I ended up with my thought too. Or something in the price range of Fanatical Favourite Elite Diamond-Orichalcum bundles ^^

Thank you for the script! I knew there HAD to be one but I also just know me and I'm biting at the bit to join every frog detective and pin&click game.

Id say mine are The Invincible, Between Horizons and Sunset Overdrive and lastly A Space for the Unbound

I will likely end up buying A Space for the Unbound at some point, the rest....if I win, great!!!! Excellent devs, excellent games!! If not, I have enough to keep me entertained for years! No worries.

My white whale used to be Ryse: Son of Rome with 278 entries, until I catched it.
Since that I don't really have such game as I was lucky to win interesting games or I just bought them.

ATM, and without doing the Greasemonkey thing that I'm so terrible at working out, I'd probably say Glass Masquerade, Truberbrook, the handful of Artifex Mundi games I don't have, and the 'shitty' little games that icaio was so good at giving away for us.

I'm sure there are a couple of others I'm more rabid about entering for, but that's all I can think of off-hand.

Mostly indie/story rich games. Having a look through my recently entered pages, because the script doesn't seem to work anymore:

Between Horizons – A Sci-Fi Detective Adventure
ANNO: Mutationem
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
GYLT
Heavy Rain
The Long Reach

Expedition 33
God of War
Wolfenstein 2.
Slay the Princess
My entries are generally pretty consistent, but I have a somewhat wide scope and below-par win rate, so I consider most of my games albatrosses.

The thing is, it takes about 1000 entries to win a game. So if you only enter or wishlisted games, you will probably win a game every other year, or every three years, depending on your wishlist (mine only has non-bundled games so far). It takes a lot of dedication to continuously visit a site and win nothing for more than a year.

yeah. If our clicks/time were worth a measurable fraction of a penny, then maybe we'd just buy the darn games ourselves, eh? I do enjoy finding games I'd never have tried tho, that's the real value of SG.

One of my all-time favorite games was a win on here that I never even heard about. A lot of my other wins are games I probably never would've committed to buying myself, but ended up having a lot of fun with.

The Afterplace. It has heavy Undertale vibes, but with different gameplay. It's one hell of a hidden gem.

Very true. I haven't won since September, yet I enter about 5-10 giveaways a day. Not a lot, but the hope to win remains.

a huge problem on steamgifts right now is everybody has SOOO many points from the spamming of 50 point trash giveaways
so people just dump points into everything including stuff they dont want to play
less points for everybody means more won giveaways people actually want

Everyone gets 24 points per hour now, regardless of the GAs generated. Pretty sure it wouldn't be more if it was still the old system.
I think it's been like this since right about the time I created an account.

Giveaways for games with cards have a lot more entries than giveaways for great games with no cards so I'm pretty sure people do get too many points though.
