Was just wondering, as we gift STEAM games here, how much of the games you really play on STEAM?

With GOG gifting games.
With Epic giving away 2 games per week.
With ARC providing most of the games for FREE, with in-game purchases.
With Origin & Uplay gifting away 1 game per month (more or less).
With HB announcing that it would give more games on other platforms then STEAM.
With HB & Fanatical making more bundles with non-STEAM games.

How much of the games you really play on STEAM?

As for me, I rarely play on STEAM games at all.
Most of the clocked times I've been playing on Origin & Epic - some of the games that are "not available on STEAM".
Even though STEAM is a great platform & has best user-experience (then other platforms: GOG, Origin, ...), other platforms did provide so much better games - like Mass Effect 3 & Andromeda, for example.

What is your opinion about recent playing on other platforms?

I still rely on Steam for most of my PC gaming. Other than that: consoles for AAAs my PC can't handle, GOG for older exclusives/during good sales.

The only store I'll actively prioritize using over Steam is Itch. They're the only ones that let developers choose how much of a cut they take, the people behind the site seem like good folks, and the personalized developer and game pages are rad. It also has tons of weird little games you can't find anywhere else.

I just checked and I've got 123 games attached to my Itch account. Which still can't compare to 332 games on Steam, but it's much closer than the handful of games I buy elsewhere.

I have no idea from where you are "getting" you information from. There is more false than right.
GOG gifts maybe 2-3 games per year, rarely something spectacular.
Epic's free games program is supposed to end with the year 2019.
Uplay gives maybe one game per year and I can't even remember when EA gave away something the last time. If both gifted games monthly, we'd pretty much own their complete library by now.

With HB announcing that it would give more games on other platforms then STEAM.

I'm calling utter bollocks on this one. HB announced that they will include more and better games in their Choice, they didn't share any information regarding platforms and certainly didn't they announce that games on Steam would be in the minority.

Summed up: You have no real idea what you are talking about.

ea just announced they're moving back to steam, so there wont really be any more origin exclusives. EPIC wont even open on my computer. just get stuck after I enter my password, which I know is right because I can log in on foxfire, so I cant play any EPIC games. Free games with iap usually dont interest me because honestly, most of them are p2w garbage(NOT all). didnt origin and uplay both stop giving free games like a year ago?

I used to split my time between all the platforms (I have no issues with there being multiple launchers/storefronts), with most of my time being spent between Steam and GOG. GOG is doing everything right, IMO, and I would buy there when I could, even with some of the frictions of that in mind (less frequent updates, occasionally less features in the games, etc.).

But then Valve released Proton, which allows me to play many Windows games flawlessly on Linux, so I threw my eggs entirely in their basket. They're the only platform with strong Linux support, and Proton is downright amazing (probably 60% of the games I've tested work flawlessly). Proton enabled me to finally shift to running Linux full time, so at this point Steam is really the only platform I'll consider using unless others get Linux clients up to speed (please GOG, PLEASE!!!). I use Lutris and GameHub for some stuff I have on other platforms, but, honestly, I've also just been rebuying some of my games from other platforms on Steam when they go on steep discount. The frictionless experience of Steam makes that worth it for me.

I'd rather play ME trilogy again, then all the STEAM games I own! ;)

If you don't intend to play on Steam, why did you participate to 49,241 giveaways ? What about the 164 games you won ? Other people would have been happy to get them..

One moment in time, I'll probably play them. Probably.

Or do you think somebody is not entitled to win?

I only believe that you are as much as a waste as those you point at for bad ratio.

Here's what I don't understand: You recently made a thread to attack people with bad ratios, yet here you are admitting to never playing your steam games. It's like "Hurr Durr... I like to win games here, but screw you, I will probably never play them.... but it's okay, I give stuff too." So why? Why bother buying Steam games or bundles at all if you never play them? Do you have a need to hoard/collect or something?

Then there was a thread from another guy, who had won a few games on here, but hadn't the ability to really give stuff away, but he played every single game that he won. He actually appreciated what he got. That's a good user, someone who actually wants the games that he wins.

I know which one got added to my whitelist.

I just don't get why you are making contradictory threads like this. You do yourself no favours with this kind of thing.

EDIT: As for the thread topic. I play most of my games on Steam. I do have a few on GOG, also have a couple other DRM-free stuff that I play offline at times. The EPIC games I collect every week, but haven't played yet, but there are a few that I most definitely will play. The truth is that some of them are windows only while they have a mac version on Steam. Steam has way more variety for people who aren't playing on a Windows machine.

Agreed :)
On one hand, the winner is free to do what he pleases with his new game, including not playing it. On the other hand, people shouldn't be entering giveaways for games they have no interest in. Let someone who actually wants to play it have a chance.

Exactly. =) Personally, I don't really care what they do with their wins. I just find this particular one interesting due to the dramatic song and dance made about what he percieved to be "leechers."

I agree, I don't go check my winner after to see what they do with their games. But when someone haven't played even one games they've won, admit they don't even use Steam... and then create thread calling out other people that's where it gets a little much...

That's what I tried to tell them, but it's always easier to see the straw in someone else's eye while ignoring the beam in their own.

If people have choice to choose it's platform, why is it so hard to see someone uses different one?

Many people jumped to some conclusions, about my game play. That only makes them "prejudice".
Of course, they didn't know those information. But that only makes them more "prejudice", as they don't relate that someone might be using other platforms.

This topic is about getting to know, how much people here are actually using STEAM. From the votes, some 10% are like me - not using STEAM so much. Amazing, isn't it?

Well, I mean, let people be. But also I don't really have the right to say much since I've only played 59.9% of my wins, so it's not like I'm in a position to make a grand statement on this.

Like, I'm guessing it's 100% or like 90% for you and that's cool. But people have the right to play the wins when they want too. The question of ratios is different from actually playing your wins (both are valid discussions, of course) and so perhaps it's not best to muddy the water here.

For me, I'm not always in the mood for the games I've won and honestly, I don't want to play games if I'm not in the mood for them. Also, I've got personal projects that bar me from playing games and I think that's fine.

There's no favours for him to make himself and honestly, there should be no favours done to you either. People are walking contradictions and sometimes it just happens. In this case though, it's not a contradiction, you're just equating ratios to played wins.

You've taken what I've said out of context and made it about me. I did not make any grand claims about my win rate. For all that matters, I could have 0% of my wins played and I'd still say the same thing in this situation because it's kinda annoying. In fact, maybe the people who won my games never played any of them, but I never checked. I simply don't care. Once a key changes hands it's no longer my concern.

If you recall, this man made a big dramatic thread last week calling people out for being "leechers" and telling people like me or you to blacklist anyone who doesn't have a positive ratio. Negative ratio doesn't automatically say a person is a "leecher." I wouldn't do that anyway (blacklist), that's not what this site is about. Now I am like "nuh-uh." If you're going to make threads calling people leeches, you don't really look good making another to say you don't play any of the Steam games you win. That is kinda crappy. lol.

Trust me, I'm not looking for any favours. Just pointing out the hypocracy. XD But anyway I said my piece and he knows how I feel about it.

Never said you did...?

For all that matters, I could have 0% of my wins played and I'd still say the same thing in this situation because it's kinda annoying.

Well, yeah, it's stones and glass houses in that case. But I get your point. You don't need to be a chef to criticize food. Yet also, I wouldn't be so bold to say that the person doesn't play games while also not playing games.

If you recall

I don't recall, honestly. I was reacting to what you said and the point I made stays the same for me atm. Ratio isn't the same issue as the games played ratio.

I guess we have different terms for hypocrisy. I don't support his idea of blacklisting people for "leeching". In fact, I don't support blacklisting at all. But I get your point. If you have a point, then make it. I just thought I'd also make my point. :D

I play almost exclusively on Steam. It's just the most convenient gaming platform for me, I have no need or desire to use other launchers (though I do have an acc on GoG and UPlay).

While GOG is my "primary" platform, I try hard to focus my gametime on my SG wins. And, seeing as how those are all Steam games, I play almost exclusively on Steam.

Voted for steam but I have other games on other platforms. In the end is not a thing about steam, every other dev is trying to make their way on the platform "wars"¿? On blizz I play overwatch, mostly... I have D3 but abandoned. Epic I have the free ones and started Surviving mars. Uplay still playing AC origins. I have games too on Gog but only playing Project warlock. Oh on bethesda I have youngblood, ended with a friend, was fun... Still installed just for next doom. But I have to end Rage 2, fun game too, but first one had better post apocaliptic ambient imo

I play mostly in Steam, and sometimes on Origin. My husband mostly uses my Gog account. He isn't a big gamer, but he loves a bunch of old games that I happen to have on Gog.

Only steam. I have a huge backlog and epic not increasing that backlog as they giving away bundled games I already have on steam so no point to get them.

My HB monthly will expire in 2 months, my backlog is so huge that I better stop buying bundles and I'll do so. The era of bundles ended now anyway, it is clear that the gaming industry will change and we heading towards a subscription type gaming experience.

There are games which are better without Steam - the MMOs, the Witcher series etc. -, and since I usually play those... I definitely don't use Steam too much.

I don't play that much lately (because of lots of stuff I have to do) but when I do it's either on Steam or Apex with friends (which is on Origin).
I played about 3.2h on Steam in the last two weeks and I played Apex 2 times last week, had my bachelors exam last week and now I have to finish a short film until Sunday.

I have accounts on most of the current clients (Origin, GOG, Uplay, Battle.net, EGS) yet I mostly play games on Steam, the fact that all of the other accounts don't add up to even a tenth of my library with Steam dominating with over 3k games owned being the main reason why.

"much better games - like Mass Effect 3 & Andromeda, for example."
First... as a Mass Effect fan i feel ashamed to hear another fan says such blasphemy... but still, that is your opinion and sadly i must accept it :/

Second, to answer the post title, i play most of my games on Steam, sometimes i play fortnite (story mode only, i never liked the battle royal mode) on Epic, Battle.net (SC2/Overwatch) or GOG just to remind my childhood (now i want to play "crusader: no regret" again...). For me steam was always the most friendly gaming plataform and a nice virtual home to meet others players, i can`t find that same friendly appeal in the others plataforms.

P.D: Sorry my english, little rusty.

Just saying that ME3 & ME-A are not on STEAM...& that even you can't get all DLCs on STEAM for ME1 & ME2.

So concerning whole ME franchise, whole STEAM is a bad thing. :D

Well, the only good ME is the first one, the others are "decent enough", so i dont suffer if i cant purchase them on STEAM (i have them on Origin) D:
Still i see your point, but EA was the one who wanted to get moar money so they left steam and started origin, they make 2, 3 and Andromeda exclusives of Origin. The funny thing is they are returning again to steam...
