Yet another pointless thread by me, but this time i'm really curious. You know, Texas Hold'em is really fun, and while there are some poker related games on Steam, none of them is multiplayer.
I know that it's stupid in some way to add a poker game to Steam since there are a lot of online sites to play, but hell, I think it could be a nice addition to the platform and it could also be useful to make official tournaments to get some free stuff as prizes, I don't know, what do you think?

I think the main reason is that Steam deals in mostly mainstream gaming, and the demography of this group isn't interested in multiplayer poker games. They'd rather shoot you than play cards.

Completely agree. Also, a steam-only based Poker game would never be able to compete with the likes of Pokerstars, Pkr .

But it wouldn't be for the sake of competing. If you do a web search, almost 99% of the poker sites are competitive and with real money. A Steam based Texas Hold'em would be of course only for Steam users who wish to chill out from the mainsteam gaming and multiplayer ecstasy and play some cards with their friends. I'd like to have it.

I agree i'd like a steam version of a poker game. I also agree with the 99% are competative and with real money, but every single one I have come across has the option to use free chips, or enter free-roll tournaments with the ability to win real cash.

Well, in this case the prize could be games or even credit for Steam wallet, of course with some kind of monthly restriction to prevent abusing

TF2 poker, chips are replaced by scrap, reclaimed, refined metal, and hats.

I would love to see that. But it would never be a financially viable option for Steam unfortunately.

"Steam deals in mainstream gaming"

Lol, you're kidding right? I mean, yeah they have mainstream games, but to say all of their games are mainstream?

The majority of the games that Steam stocks come from some of the more popular devs. There are of course sections of lesser known makers.

I should edit my wording.

Terrible game. Yeah the characters and dialog are kind of funny, but the game runs like ass, doesn't alt-tab properly, and is very glitchy.
