Relevant games that I'm talking about are GTA series that come with number, I mean GTA I, II, III, IV, so GTA V can't be exclusive for consoles since previous were on PC, the main series always are on XBOX, Play Station and PC, avoiding Nintendo :S. And others good were too like Vice City or San Andreas. Obviously all GTA games don't have to be on all consoles and PC, they need to make exclusives with another name, that is what you're talking about, to make ppl buy the portable console or PAD.

I heard far too many negative things about GTA IV to ever really try it, so its pretty hard to be enthusiastic for it. I loved the original GTA games & GTA:SA, but GTA 3 and GTA:VC didn't appeal to me as NY and Miami are completely unappealing. Perhaps R* will remember that it doesn't need to be serious all the time and sandbox games are supposed to be fun.

Saints Row 2 & 3 were both a blast, but they were both completely over-the-top. I'm ready for something a little more grounded but still fun.

i don't get the people who hate on GTA IV. i feel like the only reason people didn't like it is because it wasn't as insane as san andreas. it's a really great game on it's own

I played it a little and played a little of The Lost & The Damned, but I never really cared for how the vehicles controlled. I heard a number of annoying things about getting a bunch of phone calls to do stupid things with your cousin, plus the lack of aircraft. Plus, I'm thoroughly sick of anything New York.

I didn't like the driving at first either but once i got used to it i liked it. You can turn the phone calls off. I read somewhere they couldn't put airplanes in the game the game was already being called a "terrorist simulator" because of the city being an "exact replica" of a real city

I remember that coming up with GTA IV was coming out. I think they added helicopters with one of the expansions, didn't they? I just can't play a sandbox game without aircraft. I don't ever really feel free if I'm trapped on the ground.

bad bad, did i mention bad port (port it from PC to console, they wouldnt notice the difference), bad optimization (you need to tweak it like console settings to get decent fps even on some high-end pc's, not to mention motion blur effect wich hides dropped frames and frame buffering issues), bad niko native language (come on R* couldnt u pay a beer to someone who speaks the language actually, or u just wanted to mock people???)... just my 2 cents

1 decade ago

Comment has been collapsed.

Not sure why people flat out lie like this. I'm running the game on the highest settings (looks far better than console) with a pretty modest PC in this day and age... Core i5 3.2Ghz, 8gb RAM, GTX 670 2gb.

Maybe it had performance issues when it came out, but between patches and the evolution of technology, the "GTA IV is an awful port" thing has become something of an old wives tale spread by people still living in 2008. Feel free to hate the game on principle since Rockstar could've tried a lot harder, but don't lie. It runs fine.

Actually GTA IV has gone a long way ever since its release and now, the game is definitely smooth when compared to its release, everyone should try GTA IV again before stating it's a "bad port". It WAS a bad port.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Computers aren't THAT different, unless Rockstar went out of their way to make Nvidia the flagship video card for GTA (which I don't believe was the case). If you have a higher end PC and you're still struggling to run the game five years later, you can't bust out the "all computers are different" card. You're doing something wrong.

You should know that every single piece of hardware does not operate in the exact same way and condition, even if they are from the same manufacturer. Parts are not copied and software settings affect how fast parts wear down. That still leaves out foreign influences beyond the computer.

Looks like they're going a bit more over the top again after GTA IV went for the serious realistic approach. Not Saint's Row 3 level bonkers insanity, more GTA 3 levels of "That escalated quickly".
Hope they do pull off the "switch between 3 storylines at will" gimmick that they mentioned as the main innovation when the game was officially announced.

Also hope that if they do decide to do a PC port, they don't screw it up. Or outsource it to folks who know how to handle such ports. (Like Nixxes, who handle the PC versions for most recent Square-Enix games)

On PC, Yes.
On PS3, Maybe.
On Xbox Live, Maybe.

As far as i remember, GTA IV wasent on digital download on the PSN for some time.

Uncharted is exclusive because Sony pays for it, and Naughty Dog probably likes developing for one platform.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Your HDD is probably bigger.
We are discussing consoles and PCs..
You put in a CD or use a digital download on the console, Game runs flawless unless you got a shitty hardwarre error.
Now going to PC, You run the game, Might lag and stuff due to system requirements.

Naughty Dog pushes the PS3's processor to its limits...
Sony does pay but again, it runs awesomely on PS3 and I dont think it would be the same if ever released on Xbox..

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the PS3's blu-ray capabilities. You could argue that since Naughty Dog is utilizing the PS3's cell processor that it would make porting the game difficult... but that wasn't your initial point and you're doing a terrible job of explaining yourself.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Bluray is just a media format, its bigger then a DVD sure but it has nothing to do with running a game, you do realize that some PC games are 20-30Gbs right?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

PC Games may be 20-30 GB.
Hitman Absolution can be a good example.

Blu-Ray helps PS3 to "push" it to the final limits..
That is why Uncharted 3 has only been on PS3.
PS3's processor has been pushing stuff to the maximum.
PCs can also push it to the maximum but again, Not everyone has a good PC and the company is lazy to put a good enough port for it.

Because that stops highly graphical games from coming to PC apparently...yeah...about that....no.

Also Max Payne 3 came out last year and was a fantastic port, way better then the console version.

If you aren't trolling your train of thought is a bit off.

This doesn't really make sense...if a PC can't handle the game, why would an old X360 or PS3 able to handle it?
And the reason for RDR's release was most probably, that they didn't released the 1st part on PC, so it was console exclusive from the beginning. But it's only my opinion. :)
