Hmm, I don't know, the price isn't THAT good, it's normal.
Also games demand processing as well.

I haven't seen better prices as I haven't looked much, I just know that this price is nothing unusual.

If you could link a laptop with same specs at a similar price that'd prove your point, but otherwise no

I'm not her to prove my point or anything, you asked for some opinion, I gave opinion, not gonna search an look and waste my time to bring you something in silver plating.

I didn't mean it like that. I've done my research and haven't found anything better for the price, that's why I was surprised that you had a laptop with better specs for a lower price. Anyways, thanks for the opinion

Not only that I need portability. I need to sell my current laptop to help with buying the next one so can't get a desktop :)

Hey, I see you having a lot of laptop questions. Go to this site. These people there can help you as well.
I wasn't going to go with the Y500 because of it's SLI video card. I think a single good video card like GTX 670m and above or GTX 770m and above are going to better in my opinion.

Haha yes I have had a lot of questions. Since 750m is a mid range card, two of them should handle games very well for 2+ years, so I thought it looked good, unless you think otherwise. Here http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-750M-SLI.91280.0.html shows that 750m sli high up in the higher end class of video cards, comparable to GTX 675 MX

I've seen in threads that 750M SLI gets around 4500 for 3D Mark 11

I was going to get the same laptop with the i7 2.4ghz and dual 750m sli's but I instead went for one with the gtx 765m, seems better for gaming to me.

Was that the Sager 151 or something similar? If so, it seemed too bulky, cost a bit more, and didn't have a backlit keyboard. Plus according to http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-765M.92907.0.html 750m SlI is a bit better

Nope, custom laptop ordered from PCspecialist, and from what I hear the sli's have issues with micro-stuttering etc, plus I've seen them get a steady 45 fps on high settings in BF3 whereas the 765m got a steady 45-50 on ultra. The 750m is apparently just an overclocked 650m. But I'm sure it'll be fine for your gaming needs for a while especially if you get the dual set-up.

I think dual 750s should last for a while, considering that the 750m is the top of the middle class mobile GPUs

No, IBM sold its PC and ThinkPad businesses to Lenovo, which is a Chinese company that used to be called Legend ... and Legend used to be renown in China for cheap but shitty quality desktop computers. The business wasn't that profitable for IBM, which is why I think they sold it.

It is for gaming. And I'll bet that in 3-5 years DVD drives will be completely useless

Actually yes it is. Some people have too much money

It's quite a lot of bang for your buck, as others have pointed out, but the major drawback is the crappy resolution display. If you can live with 1366x768, then by all means go for it, but I can't imagine such a low pixel density will look good on a 15.6" panel. You'd have to hook the machine up to an external monitor to make proper use of that graphics horsepower.

Um, it's 1080P :) You've gotta click next on the lenovo page and I got the $1103 model with 1080P, 750M SLI, 16 GB RAM, 16 GB SSD

For $1125 after tax, I am getting (http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y-series/y500) the $1,103 model (got a quote) of the Y500. I realize the Y510P is out but it is in such high demand there is no telling how long the wait for it to be restocked will be. The only new spec with it is the Haswell processor, which is mainly focused on iGPU, which is pointless because its disabled in this laptop. I personally think that $250 isn't worth it for the new processor. I will mainly be gaming with this laptop. What do you guys think?
