Yes it is unacceptable. If you want you friend to win a game, save up your points and invite him to steamgifts.com w/ the generate invite code feature.

Ok, I have a question. I know the rules say not to bid on any game you already have, and not to trade away games you win, I understand that completely. Here is my question though. What if there is a game that I know a friend has been after that I already have and want to try and win so I can give to them as a gift, is that still unacceptable?
