Bro. I am totally with you on this. But we cannot trust anything but our senses. The technology you're using will make it appear that the earth is round because of the curvature of the lenses mounted on your satellite. The only way to find out if the earth is flat is by going to outer soace yourself and ejecting yourself from the spacecraft, because the window glass would also have a slight curvature making the earth look round. Then you have to get out of your space suit, becayse the glass on your space suit will curve the appearance of the earth. So onky then you will see that the earth is in fact, flat.

WRONG, mofo, your eyeballs are also round and thus make Earth look round! Get your facts str8!

It seems to me they were looking for a much "simpler" explanation for what they experience (earth looks flat, so it must be flat), and after having their ideas questioned over time, they've had to come up with more and more ridiculous explanations, and eventually ended up with a total explanation that was even more complicated and incomprehensible than the original idea (i.e. the truth) that seemed unbelievable to them.

To anyone considering donating for a joke or even so that he can prove himself wrong: don't. In the end this is just putting money in his pocket and either he'll find some excuse not to do it or some excuse not to believe the results. Any money given to this should be seen as a direct donation to spread outright lies and anti-scientific agendas.

People like this are the most dangerous thing in the world right now, so laugh all you want but even spreading links to help other people laugh at him puts his message infront of more people - some of which might be stupid enough to believe it.

Terrorism, natural disasters, diseases, global warming, pollution, and a bunch more stuff.. those are more dangerous than some stupid opinion.

Terrorism is caused by stupidity. Diseases that were once pretty much extinct are starting to spread again because of stupidity. Global warming preparations and cures are being hindered, slowed, or outright stopped because of stupidity.

Stupidity is far more dangerous than all those things because stupidity makes all of those things dangerous or far more dangerous than they already are.

And don't call it an opinion. We all have the right to our own opinions, but we don't have any right to have our own facts. The truth is what it is, the science is what it is, and people who actively work against what the scientific consensus shows don't have the right to doom us all.

Only all of us who use the internet are part of the problem and not the solution as it contributes to the so-called "global warming":It really does not matter I suppose in the grand scheme of things because even if we were to stop all this madness we still need a way off this rock to keep mankind going and the big question is it possible before we destroy ourselves or something else does.

So, in the end, stop global warming come up with all the cures you want still does not fix the problem that Earth itself is not infinite nor would we likely survive long enough to even come close to seeing the slow death of the star we call the sun.I vote for the super Volcano under Yellowstone kills us before then.

Science is a wonderful tool but in no way should it be counted as fact 100% of the time and how we ended up in the mess we are in now because each side thinks there science is right and science is not wrong so in the end, you end up with 2 facts despite both cancelling each other out both sides provide proof the other is wrong but both sides claim their science is right. So now you have two sides of science arguing about who is right and wrong about global warming.

Call it whatever you want whatever it's happening and the changes are clear but we will be too busy arguing about which side is right all while whatever is happening will happen and resources wasted over who is right instead of coming together and seeing if anything can be done about it.

Science another tragedy of politics.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sorry, but science is not arguing about global warming. Global warming is an accepted fact in the scientific community and the only arguments are about how screwed we are. People who say that there are scientists on both sides are intentionally or from ignorance misinterpreting reports, or talking about reports that have been proven wrong.

The thing about science is that it's okay to be wrong. Every study and research done improves your knowledge, and if it proves something from the past wrong that's just great because it brings you closer to a better understanding of reality. But that doesn't mean science isn't sure of the basics - Global warming is happening, evolution is how life happened, and so on. Scientists are still doing research to figure out the details but there's no argument about the truth of the matter. The fact that science isn't "right" 100% of the time doesn't mean we in any way should not trust it - you trust in science every time you cross a bridge, get in a vehicle, take medications, or even eat food in many cases.

That is fine that you don't agree that is a good thing you took what data you had and formed your opinion of it.It's good to have an open mind when it comes to Science.I'm on the fence about how humans play a role in it I do however think we do play some part in it and don't think we are the only cause but I can't without doubt, say we have no blame.

If pollution is not good for us clearly it's not good for the planet as a whole plants and trees take in a lot of the CO2 that we breath out but at the rate of forest and plant matter and species that help offset this is being destroyed it is hard to deny we have not played some kind of role in the changing of the planet.

So IMO I find it hard to think humans play no part in this, now what I can debate is how much of an impact as in did we make it just worse, speed it up or would it not matter in the end.Though even if it does not matter in the grand scheme of things still does not void of us being part of the problem

When did I ever say don't trust science?I was simply saying you can't lean on Science as being right all the time and use it all the time as fact.Hence why I said Science is a wonderful tool but should not always be used 100% as truth or as fact.We are humans we make mistakes there for so will science since it is studied by humans. What may be viewed as 100% true or fact now 50 years from now may learn that it was all wrong. If we fail to doubt things then we fail to progress that is how Science works people disagree and do their own research that very well could come up with the right answer or no answer or even new things.

I know I will not become sheep for science and eat up everything I was told and do as Science always says. That does not mean I doubt everything but I surely don't take everything I learn about it as 100% true.If we were to follow that path then we would not be where are today,

Global warming is just another term for climate change only the warming vs cooling aka ice-age so no not all science agrees on causes.Though that is to be expected after all Science also claims that earth has gone through global warming/ice ages before. So it only makes sense that there would be an argument over the causes and if this one is man-made or natural and countless other debates about it like did we speed things up or just make it worse and so on.

It's also clear humans play a role in this to some point and you can't deny that if pollution is not healthy for us it clearly is not for the planet as a whole. There are other things to think about also the rise in CO2 can be partly blamed on humans need to ravish and destroy huge chunks of the forest one of the biggest sources of CO2 intake is trees and pant life. What do think is going to happen when most of that is taken out of the picture.

This though is mostly my opinion and some of what I said is from Science but just because I doubt some of it does not mean I'm right nor does it mean Science is right or wrong. We still have to look at Science and form our opinion of the data.We all have a right to our opinion no matter if it is right or wrong.Science shows have the right to doom us all just as much as you have the right to say it does not.

In the end though unless we really change or find ways to adapt one thing is clear as a race we will be doomed. Most want to talk about a future for their kids all the while destroying massive forest and species and so on just so they can have their smartphones/car/big house/electronics and so on all things that slowly destroy the place we call home.So I ask in the end what does Science matter if we don't even use it to make a better place for the future we just keep polluting it and destroy species and eating up land and so on.

I am part of the problem since I like a lot of things that contribute to destroying the planet the only saving grace is that is also the same reason I chose not to have kids because I don't see a good future for them.

One more thing I never once said anyone was arguing about if Global Warming is real.I clearly said arguing about Global Warming I'm not sure how you translated that to arguing about if it exists. After all surely they can agree Global Warming is a thing but the cause and effects and if we sped it up or if we made it worse is all up for debate. That is the what I meant about arguing about Global Warming.

In that case there would be a net force towards the earth and the sattelite would crash. One of the reasons sattelites stay in orbit is because they experience a force tangent to their velocity towards the center of the circle they describe. In your situation the force is not in that circle.

Quite sure deleting music from your computer isn't going to make or not make money to anyone, but I understand your point. I once was discussion Harry Potter with a friend and they brought up something about disliking Harry Potter because the writer did "bad things" (I didn't look into it, don't care enough to know what he meant) and I spent the next five minutes ranting about how it annoys me that people will learn to hate entertainment/medias based on the writer/producer. :P

In my opinion, you can choose not to financially support an artist, but I think it's silly to decide to downright hate something based on the fact that you dislike to person behind said entertainment/media.

Yeah, I guess the best option for people who feel that way is to illegally download whatever it is they like. That way they get to enjoy it without supporting the artist.

And I don't buy physical music that often anymore (I only have about 10 CDs), so I often think digital when it comes to music. Maybe I'm not very familiar with the concept of second-hand music, but I just imagine downloading illegally to be a lot easier.

That was rhetorical, but since you insist on continuing the conversation...

I highly doubt anyone will ever be arrested for downloading illegal content on the Internet, otherwise millions and millions of people would have to be arrested, because this is something that a vast number of people in the entire world do. I believe the simple act of downloading an image to your computer is illegal (I might be wrong), because someone created that image and you're using it without paying them. So it's not something that is easy to escape, especially since the concept of "stealing" something digital is not the same as stealing something physical.

Downloading illegal content also does not mean you are a person without morals. While it might be an immoral act, it does not implicate that the person has no morals at all.

And just from a personal point of view: I pay whenever I can, but the amount of content that I consume is just not something that I can afford. So it's not that I won't pay, it's that I can't. If I could, I would. And I highly doubt that artists who are already millionaires are affected by me not buying their music. Sales are dead anyway, and streaming gives very little to artists, so they mostly get money from touring nowadays.

Not that I have to explain myself to you or that it would ever affect how you see digital piracy...
