To be honest, there's pixel art and then there's this :D
I do find pixel graphic appealing in general, but there's a visible difference between pixel graphic done as a design choice and pixel graphic done because the devs can't do better/can't afford to pay graphic artists.

It's possible that the game actually looks better when you play it and it might be an awesome game for all I know, the screenshots just don't do it any justice.

This was literally my first thought.

Graphics are certainly not everything... but I don't know if I can put up with 1985 graphics in 2020.

Well, there's no harm in giving it a shot - it's just a 100MB download and you can try it for free :)

But I should say, the game isn't the best survival game I've played. Graphics aside, it could use a lot more improvements.
