Since they've unlisted the original from the Steam Store, I think it's safe to say that this replaces it. And, no, you don't get the Definite Edition for free if you own the original- just a slightly bigger discount (55% vs 15%; so that's 8,09€ for the Definitive if you have the original, which for the record had a base price of 9,99€).
I'm... kind of pissed off because I wanted to make giveaways (for the original) during the Summer Sale only to find it unavailable to buy anymore to make way for the "new" more expensive option. <.<

They are on grey markets for 6,34 euro, >.> So what would happen then if you redeem that? Seems you still will get to own the original. Oh heck, i am going for it. Yep redeems as the original.

So they went from a shit publisher which wouldn't support it to an even shittier publisher which will run off with your money and laugh at you while they do so.
Never buy DotEmu games on launch. I've been dealing with their abandonware bullshit for almost 20 years. I'm surprised Streets of Rage 4, Wonderboy and TMNT Shredder's Revenge turned out as well as they did, because all their other projects get abandoned very fast and they never, EVER fix any bugs.

The price of the new one is 2x of what it cost previously... so getting a 55% discount isn't all that great. And the content that they're calling "definitive" isn't much. A few new character portraits, making the multiplayer work better and minor tweaks.
The game itself is fantastic, but this new release is bordering on being a scam.
