Monitor is too expensive, take the VE248H instead - unless you desperately need that resolution (which isn't even supported by most games).

The main reason I was going for the PB278Q is for the size, now I am stuck between the two for value vs bigger/better.

Bigger is not always better. In a short while, you will find the larger monitor to be much less expensive making your purchase over-priced. You want to purchase at the "sweet spot" where you get good quality for an excellent price.
