I think there should be an official keydrop thread, so this is my solution.

Some people like to keydrop. So, in this thread, you can write your keys and let the first person to claim it claim it.

(I promise I will not take a key (Unless you want me to get it))

"Suggestions" (Please read)

  1. Please try to put the name of the game in the post, unless you really want it to be a mystery. (That way people do not have games they do not want, and people that do not want that game can pass by it and let someone else take it.

  2. Please try to limit your use of the thread, I:E Do not keep grabbing keys, it would be nice to let someone else take it.

  3. If you have claimed a key, please post a reply to the keydrop post saying you claimed it.

  4. Please do not post used keys.

  5. You can put "?"s into a key so people have to guess the numbers/Letters that were replaced.

P:S: If an admin likes this, maybe you could sticky it? Please :D. (You or I can change the contents if you want)

Note: With the "Rules" please understand I am a user, not admin. I just want to keep this thread as good as I can.

Can we add question marks and let people guess the key? If not; Sorry. Otherwise, here.. Have enclave!

? = Number
Both ?'s are the exact same number.

Yes! You can definitely do that, although you might want to make a custom thread so you can have your own comments and such. And remember, the rules are more like suggestions, I do not have the authority to enforce it. ( I would really like if people followed them though)

You know there is a reply button, right?

First point is why I don't really bother with grabbing keys. Even if I somehow succeeded, I could still end up with something I don't want to play and deprive someone who would enjoy it of their chance.

While I'm at it, region-locked Sanctum key, also missing characters: NY56A-T@@@Z-J4EJZ The @s are digits, one of them appears twice.

It may overload the SG site servers unnecessarily..because of high number of people refreshing like mad for a bundle key.

Waiting/refreshing for keydrops is also Very Exhausting for the eyes and for the psyche..I don't recommend this.

That's not the best of ideas.. it will only make ninjas lurk on the thread.
How is it useful to have a centralized keydrop thread when anyone can make their own and close them afterwards?

Half the fun is not knowing when or where they'll get dropped though.

And the funniest is when you have to leave and that when you come back you see that the game you wanted was dropped here and you missed it ! :D

I'm amazed at the suggestions coming from the newest members of this site.. maybe we should also make a "Puzzle" thread where ALL the puzzles go and a "Hidden private giveaway" thread for all those who want to hide a giveaway. How about a UNIQUE "My CV isn't going up" thread.. that one would actually be useful..

uhm, not to be a killjoy, but as long as this is a public thread and keys are just being dropped, without having to put in the least amount of effort to get it, most people won't obey these "suggestions" the sad truth,

This. Is. Begging. If you want a keydrop thread, actually set the ball rolling with your own. Too many keydrop threads have been started by some guy doing this and trying to ninja half a dozen games without contributing anything (or, worse, Dota 2 keys back in the days of being a million of them). This is not acceptable.

Leaving this thread up for a very short while longer in the hopes that it will sink in to other users that this is not encouraged and will get you suspended.

Since the thread is still here I will answer this for clarification. So, if the OP had posted 1-2 keys him self to "set the ball rolling", then it wouldn't qualify as begging?
Thanks.

No, it wouldn't. As long as they were something that wasn't currently being massively exploited, the thread would be allowed to stay open, at least until it hit a critical limit, at which point it'd be closed for efficiency reasons without prejudice and whoever was currently around would be allowed to make a new thread to continue it. We once had a keydrop phase that lasted three threads, two of which reached somewhere around a thousand posts and the third around 400 and something, I believe.
