So, couple days ago a great guy was generous enough to gift me a copy of the 1st tier of Humble Borderlands Bundle.
I was interested in this game and got excited enough to play, but I encountered something that made me get frustrated.

My class is Hunter and my task now is to kill a boss and the problem starts here. I got the best weapon I could find (sniper) and I still deal to this damn boss around 12 (50 if critical) damage and his health is insane, around 1000 + shield or so. The best part is that other than the boss there are at least another 5-6 enemies and 1 of them one shots me :D
I got bored constantly dying there and gave up, but I really wanna play this damn game.
My question is, is the whole game like that? Will something change if I pick another class? Do things get better later in the game?

EDIT: I am completely stupid! After checking for a second time I realized that the level of the boss is 11 (yeah I know I rock )
I got a quest which told me to kill the boss and I thought that it would be for my level so went straight ahead to chop his balls :D

EDIT2: Thank you all for helping me guys. I appreciate all of your tips which will help me in the future to finish the game :)
I'll leave the topic on for some time more so that people can join the giveaway

Mandatory giveaway :D Level 3+

I remember about this when I was playing Borderlands 2, you have to get a different weapon that has ammo that penetrates shield, every type of ammo penetrates a type of defence

Well shield is not quite the problem, I burst through it with a couple shot. The problem is the low dmg I deal to it in general with all the weapons. For example with with SMG's I deal around 2-3 damage, that's ridiculous :D

IMO i think you might just need to grind some enemies or do some side quests and get better loot if your getting one shot. If your level is way below the bosses or mobs level then your weapons do alot less damage.

Everything's about the drops in Borderlands, especially early on. You can roam around a bit, grab some better gear, gain a couple of levels and then circle back to the boss that's bugging you. It should be easy enough after a while.

Alternatively, you can co-op with a buddy, which gives the mobs another target and more than doubles your firepower. Especially if it's a higher level buddy that's boosting you.

1.use a shock element weapon cause it very effective against shield
2.use burning or flame weapon after the shield down cause it very effective against flesh
3.if it isnt enough go crazy with the grenade, launch them all

Thank you for all of your tips, I'll keep them in mind in the future as I didn't yet find any elemental weapons
Or that's what I want to believe :D

What level is the enemy? If he's higher than you, then you might want to grind some enemies and level up first. My playthrough was with a hunter too and I don't remember having a problem. What boss is he exactly?

Edit: I also played solo.

borderlands combat can be extremely easy or hard, depending how much difference there's between you and your enemies level.
if i remember correctly, ~5+ levels makes fights almost impossible as you deal no dmg and receive A LOT more.

Grind more, and you probably want to change your weapon. Sniper is not best weapon to solo boss

Whats the name of the boss? Also I think you are under leveled. I played Borderlands 1 and 2 all the way solo and I got stuck just a few times (most of them with raid bosses).

Grind for some weapons and check the shops in case they have something in the daily offer (I got 3 legendary weapons from shops).

Also kill other bosses you have killed before to grind some gear. Check what kind of elemental damage you have to use to kill the boss (most of the time you just need a shock weapon and a fire weapon but it varies)

Was it Bone Head? While he can be found easily right next to Fyrestone, it may be better to leave him alone until you get the specific mission (and have the necessary level by that time)
Side note: sniper rifles are great for any class when wandering around, but they are not so great for close-quarter boss battles, regardless of the class.

Yeah that was the boss
I played him sneaky beaky like and got his ass beaten even though I was level 7 :D
Elemental weapons did great job

Guessing this was Bone Head? He is a PITA until you get equal/over level on him.

On the plus side he drops a nice SMG once you kill him

Well it's my first time playing the game and sniper was the starting gun so assumed that's what I am supposed to use :D

Well it works pretty much like a normal FPS, use snipers only for far enemies, rifle for medium-short range. Personally i never use shotguns :P
Go to the vending machines in the city, you will find good stuff (not always) and it refreshes every 10(?) minutes ;)
