Basically, I'm suggesting something combining private and group-only options. As in like a private it doesn't show up on the list, but only people in the selected group can enter.

For example, if I wanted to give Skyrim to a few friends, I'd make it private, but to avoid those outside of my target area entering the private giveaway (because those get spread sometimes) I could, in addition, set it to my stream's Steam group so that only those within the group who have the link can enter.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I searched the forum and didn't see it.

I'm pretty sure this exact functionality exists already, I've definitely seen group specific giveaways. How to make them I wouldn't have a clue though.

he means that the giveaway be private even within the group, so people who has the private giveaway link NEEDS to be in the group to enter.

This is exactly what I meant, sorry if it was unclear.

Make a new private group and invite only people you wanna give a chance to win. Probably the easiest solution right now.

Maybe he wants to make puzzle, useless to create another group.

I hadn't thought of that, but yeah, puzzles would be pointless using Will's tactic.

The puzzles you're thinking of, at least. You can easily tell people to send you the answer through e-mail in order to be invited.

True, but that's a hassle for someone who doesn't check his e-mail constantly.

Really? I mean I've seen a few private giveaways where the host is like "Only open to those from the S.Gifts group" or whatever, but that doesn't stop those who aren't in the group from entering.

He means that you have to be in his steam group, AND watch his stream to enter it. So people who are constantly wasting their life on his stream and are in his steam group can only enter it.

In other words, what you want is a private giveaway that none of your intended participants can share.

Probably the only way to do that is as WilliWuerstchen said. The downside would be you'd need to check who is/isn't in the group every time you make a giveaway. You can either kick everyone after a giveaway has ended and then let them back in for a later one, or let them stay and next time carefully add/remove who is and isn't watching your stream. First might be easier since you could just briefly make the group public and then private again after they've joined, but only if you're not worried about lurkers watching your stream getting in.

This is a good idea, but i think that, when creating a private-group giveaway, the gifter could get some options at his disposal, like seeing if the entry belongs in the group you mentioned, and if dont, you can either report or kick him out yourself.

Another idea i have is to simply change a bit how the private giveaways system work, in the way that, whoever gets the link, needs to also get a unique key to enter that giveaway, sort of like the Steam Guard system which sends a unique key everytime you want to log in a computer who doesnt have the cookies of the site loaded already (alot of work for mods here unfortunetly).

Seems a bit like overkill. You can already specify requirements for private giveaways and have it rerolled if someone enters without meeting them.

Sure, but then the original winner can mark "not recieved" and it counts against you.

I said "reroll". If you simply refuses to deliver then you're the one breaking site rules. If you ask the mods for a reroll then the original winner won't be the winner long enough to mark it as not received.

You could also just do the giveaway outside of SteamGifts. Make a list of those you want to have a chance to win. Number them. Then use Random.org yourself to choose a winner. Done! :)

Answer: Stop getting people to join your group + only give them games if they watch. Just give them private links only.

Except that still allows others outside the target to access it if they get the link.

I don't think you are understanding your own thing anymore. There is NO point to this feature. Your private link is being shared to people watching, whether they are in the group or not. If you don't want people watching to enter that aren't in the group, then they could just join the group after clicking the link.

Of course I'm understanding my suggestion, it just may be I'm not explaining it well enough. You're clearly misunderstanding it.

Nevermind, I read it over again. Just make a private giveaway and hand out links to your whitelist. Chances are all those people are on your friends list.

If you want to ban certain users, then don't run a public group.
