Actually, Half-Life 3 is ready since 2008 but Valve is trolling us with one day delay every time they read a joke about them and how they don't know how to count to three. True Story.

There will be always people who are going to do this. I think as some huge event draws near it is followed by some sort of hype and overwhelming amount of spam, mostly posted by some folks in need of attention or publicity.

Plus the fact that the forum isn't very... ordered. It's just a huge pile of threads with no form of classification whatsoever. You actually have to know that the search bar, usually for giveaways, turns into a search bar for threads. And well, sometimes it IS useful to create new threads as new information gets out: it's not like that many people go through the bazillions of trolling comments made on a given topic either.

I'm not surprised you'd contribute to a perpetuating notion with the hl3 thread. I agree the jokes were funny a long time ago but honestly it does get old and has now become the new thing to post when there's nothing else to think of in posting a new thread. It's effectively the new way to just rub the users in an annoying way little by little.

While not as annoying as ppl making threads of their personal dramas like yesterday it can still be annoying none the less.

I understand. That was intended to be a critic about how people took that original email (saying sales start tomorrow) at face value and called it a "proof".

That was more about that than the HL3 trend, but the most dumb and unbelievable the fake, the more people might get to think twice before believing things like that.

The funniest part is that some people added me to ask infos about my "early access" or congratulate me. That wasn't my intention, I'm as frustrated as anyone else about HL3.

But I got it now, no more HL3 jokes until it gets funny again !
