Why is tracking your day and sports worth 1000euros?
Comment has been collapsed.
It's a Garmin ($$) Smartwatch ($$) with solar ($$$) ... of course it's going to be expensive. That's kind of like saying "Why buy a $30,000 car when you're just going to go to work in it?" ... because it's nicer and has features the $12,000 car doesn't? (shrug)

well, your watch is more expensive than my first car ... but got damn the insurance cost were nuts (750€ car, 800€ insurance lol). i also realised that it is more expensive than my laptop (~720€). i couldn't justify spending this amount of money on a watch or a smartphone or even combined

+1
A lot of my co-workers don't even have watches anymore, something I just can't understand.
I use a classic wrist watch and I kinda naked in the rare cases I don't have it on me. Plus it's a lot faster and easier to check the time with just a glance at my watch, than to get out the smartpjone and check the time there.

Nope. Not crazy at all. It's your money, and if you feel it's worth it, then it's worth it. I got Hogwarts Castle Lego set for $400 + international shipping despite knowing I would basically build it then chuck it in the storage because I don't have the space to display it, and that's what happened. IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY.

Am I crazy? I mean 1000 euros just for a watch?
It depends on your income, your expenses, and how much you need/want it. If you will not eat well because of it, or will have some unresolved health issues, etc, etc - I would call it crazy. If you can buy it without hurt to other aspect of your life - why not? It's great that you can afford things that you want.

More or less this, yeah. Money exists to be spent. It's nice to save, but you shouldn't be superfrugal if you can spend on nice things and not hurt your financial stability

Congrats, I thought about buying one myself, but than I decided to stick with my Fenix 6 Pro for some more time, because there are not really any new features that I´d need :)
Love those watches, I use it to track walks, runs, hikes, mountains, skiing, ski skating, bike tours and weighttraining.
I just love numbers and stats :D
How do you use yours?

i like cycling. so cycling mostly. now will use with indor trainer as well. hiking (walking) of course. playing golf from time to time. as you already saw in op, i upped from vivoactive so touchscreen was a big point in choosing 7 over 6. i found that vivoactive was ok but lacking more detailed info so just went for new one.

Question.. You got it for the features or the looks mainly?

"mainly" was the keyword :P Obviously both.. But you either first looked at features and then looks or vice-versa :P

Where's the poll?
I don't think you are crazy, if you can afford something you want, then go for it, even if everyone else thinks you're nuts. SO I hope you'll enjoy the gadget.
For that price I hope it gives good massages and can control weather.

It is not a problem for each human being to acquire what they need to prepare for what they want to do.
As long as it is not for the purpose of hurting others, there is no problem.😊
For example, buying a Prius rocket and hitting me with it is prohibited.😣
Recently, I heard that people don't wear watches on their arms anymore due to the spread of smart phones....
I like my old-fashioned pocket watch.
However, as the term "watch swamp" suggests, some watches seem to be "works of art" or "investment products" that are "used up" or "not repaired" without considering the possibility of them becoming "consumable.
I remember a long time ago, someone tried to sell me a watch with a meteorite in it.
The clock that is closest to me now is an hourglass (3 minutes) that I bought for 100 yen.⌛
The reason is that if I have a lot of questions from humans, I have to make sure that I only have three minutes to answer each question, otherwise I will not be able to sleep.
By mistake, please don't say that the clock in the lower right corner of the computer has more. It will be recognized as the nemesis of humanity in front of most computers.
In any case, it is important to use, rather than be used by, the best tools for different purposes.
Oh, that's the end of the story.
Maybe I'm the crazy one.😂

If it were me buying the watch I'd have massive regret for it. But you know you. If you're going to get use out of it, then it's worth it.
I feel guilty buying a new computer until I realize how many hours a day for how many years I'll use it. When you break it down like that, it's dirt cheap.
Enjoy your new toy/tool!

I used a watch when i was a teen and smartphones were forbidden, now i bought for 8 € a watch wich can moninor my sports blabla and it was a fun gadget for a few days, but still as useless as ever otherwise so its keeping dust somewhere.. The watch is just an hindrance and i feel free without it, so i just use my phone for every thing else

I've had a Garmin Venu for a bit over a year now, it is great so I'm sure the Fenix is the bees knees. My only complaint is that the pulse ox readings are inaccurate to the point of being useless, otherwise everything works great. Enjoy, just don't take up scuba diving or you'll have to buy the $1,500 Descent Mk2i, hehe.

I really hope you get good use out of it!
I've bought a lot of expensive electronic gadgets and it's always a gamble, some I use lots and some end up seldom used but with a lot of good ideas for use cases.
But in the end, as long as you have the money I feel like the most important thing is that just getting it makes you have fun

Congrats!
I feel so anxious spending much on stuff even I'm borderline needing - a new washing machine, or a new(er) PC, mostly because my laptop's fan again starts to act up, HDD was already replaced... it's only a matter of time something important gives in.

i feel like it's an evolution... i started with xiaomi band 2 - it was nice to see what's good, get a feel of a watch (before it i also had that "i don't like watches" feeling). then for a long time (damn, almost 4 years) had vivoactive 3/4 cause i wanted something more than a fit band. but now i feel that i need more - more details, more insights, more battery (going on a trip without charger was not so nice). yeah, it's more expensive i feel it's worth it. i'm not like some people who goes for each latest and greatest (like buying every iphone) but it feels right

Bought myself a new watch - Garmin Fēnix 7X Sapphire Solar - "only" a 1000 euros. Am I crazy? I mean 1000 euros just for a watch? Yeah, having it gives me better intel on my day, sports etc. I also bought this to finally make use of my bike over the winter.
P.S. Previously had Garmin Vivoactive 4 which I will give to my sister who is using my old Vivoactive 3 now :)
