Augustus: First Emperor of Rome by Adrian Goldsworthy
Loved his previous book on Caesar so I jumped right into the followup on Augustus. If you like historical fiction, two of my favorites are Tides of War and Gates of Fire.

I enjoy comparative religion, as well as religious philosophy and theology - tracing various religions back in time and researching and finding fundamental core belief systems, resulting schisms, and related or borrowed texts and symbols they may and usually do have in common, in search for possible origins...
I'm reading "The Nag Hammadi Scriptures" right now, based on the Nag Hammadi Library findings. I also use "The Gnostic Bible" as a secondary go-between from time to time, as it offers some extra insight, and some extra texts not in "The Nag Hammadi Scriptures"... After typing a few paragraphs about it, I decided to remove my brief description of what's inside, as it might not be appropriate since the material is about sensitive religious subject matter that could easily offend certain people.

Cooking for Geeks, I don't usually read non-fiction, but this is one awesome book.

Time to bring this bad boy to the top, scrubs.
Just reread "Alicja" by J. Piekara and I remembered why I love the guy so much. He has a talent for sucking you into the worlds he creates, and the one in "Alicja" is beyond magical and intriguing. It helped that I could relate to a few things, which is, all things considered, a bad thing but oh well... time to get back to the search for Kadath.

I'm currently reading a visual novel called Sakura Angels. Does that count? Someone bought it for me, so I assume they really liked it and they wanted to share wonderfulness of the story with me.

Just finished the main book line for the 'Sword of Truth' series by Terry Goodkind.
And am now starting in on the 'Wheel of Time' series by Robert Jordan. (read it years ago and was not truly impressed, but am giving it a second go)

Reading a few books at once because...because, well probably because I'm a doofus. Comics: 100 Bullets Vol. 9, They're Not Like Us, The Fade Out, Trees, Grendel Omnibus vol. 4, Ody-C. Novel(s): East of Eden. Philosophy texts: Reference Without Referents, Fiction and Fictionalism, Arguments of the Philosophers- Meinong.
This is not particularly efficient, I just read em at different times of the day; and some of those comics are just not gripping enough to read through quickly cough Trees endcough

Currently reading Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert, the second in the Dune series. It's fantastic, can't believe I've slept on it so long. Also making my way through How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World by Harry Browne, though I don't agree with every point it has given me a lot of insight on self-development and achieving personal happiness.

there are constantly threads for music, movies, and games, but so little love for the written word!
I'm currently reading Uprooted by Naomi Novak. I thoroughly enjoy her Temeraire series and I highly recommend it to anyone who is remotely interested in historical fiction (even if you don't it's worth looking into).
update: Now reading "Blood and Iron" by a local author
