I really did not see this coming, expected EA to try to bleed it of every last cent until the very end but oh well, if you ever had an account for the game you can play the game for free until it gets shut down next month. They've also aparently added an NPC that boosts you to max level/rr so you can just jump into endgame, tho i'v not been able to actually find said NPC. So if, for old times sake, you feel like getting some of WAR's great PVP, visit some of your favorite zones or just help the game go out with a bang we're getting one last chance to do it, without having to give any more $$ to the idiots who ruined the game(not that any of them are actually working on it anymore).

P.S From what i'v seen people say it even works with trial accounts made before this anouncement, might work with new trial accounts as well but i cba to check.

Well to tell the truth, it probably stopped being profitable some time ago. How many people are actually still playing it?

Less than 50k - that's the freshest number I've heard.

That number must be from a few years ago, i doubt it had more than a few thousand before this f2p anouncement.

The license agreement with Games Workshop is running out.

That's "old" news. EA and Mythic killed the game a long time ago, GW refusing to renew the license is just the last nail in the coffin.

I would try the game if it was Warhammer 40000 Online

It is always sad to see a game die out. Even if I never played it before.

Not that bad of an idea considering its going down anyways and practically dead.

Who would play an MMO shutting down soon lol

People who played it back when in the day and feel any sort of nostalgia towards it or people who've never seen/played it and want to see what it was like. What's so hard to understand?

It's just wasting time, actually playing any MMO is wasting time :p I can't believe I had played UO for years back in the day. Though I would think differently if I didn't work full time & doing an MBA at the same time.

That's completely different from what you first said but, while i can understand, going by that logic all gaming is a waste of time.

Sure it is :D That's why I only play CS:GO now. It doesn't feel wasting too much (just a little lol)

Seriously though, what kind of an idiot gets hooked on a game who's initials are "You Owe?" I know I was one of them. :( I miss playing that stupid game, I can not bring myself to pay for the subscription anymore however. If UO and Warhammer Online ever go F2P on a permanent basis my free time will cease to exist.

Just to be there at the end. I did that for Tabula Rasa.

Seems there was a private server at some point and they got hit with a cease and desist order and shut down.

that sucks. I wanted to play it when it came out but couldn't afford a subscription much less the game. Was hoping to try it out if there were any servers up

Yeah it did, too bad it was a buggy mess at launch and they never got a chance to fix it.

Want to know WHY this game died so horribly?

Stupid asshole charged ALL of their customers 17-20 times at once for $15 each time (twice!). I'm amazed anyone trusted them enough to still subscribe at all.

No, not really, that only happened(to my knowledge) once and they refunded the money, plus the game was already heading to the junkyard by the time it happened. It died because it was launched 6 months too early and was horribly handled, many bugs never got fixed, more bugs got added, class balance was broken for months at a time, many promises made and most of them were lies.

I'm actually amazed anyone is backing Mark Jacobs's Camelot Unchained after all the lies and bullshit he spewed while he was head of Mythic. But hey, i guess all you have to do is lay low for 3-4 years, people will forget you were in charge of one of the biggest(if not THE biggest) fuck-ups in MMO history and will be ready to throw money at you again based.

I may be remembering incorrectly, but I think it had happened once before to a Mythic game at least.

And while they got refunds, that means NOTHING to the people who got overdraft fees from their little fuck up.
