Noise: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO vs Noctua NH-U12S

The noctua is better but it costs twice as much, I'd go with the Hyper 212 Evo, I bought it as well. (You will not overclock so the noctua is completely overkill, even if it has a better fan and the thermal paste included is nice).

the noise is generated mostly by the fan, so thats what are you looking for.

i think both are a bit too much if you have no heat troubles, but you want a quite cooler so,,
IN MY OPINION, get the 212EVO because its cheap and you wont do much overclocking, and if you feel its too loud you can always adjust the PWM fan speed, and they say its a good fan.
if all fail then swap for a better fan.

I have a 212 EVO that is three years old and has gone through two fans. They just quit spinning. After Cooler Master replaced the fan the first time it died again six months later so I replaced the fan again with a Noctua brand. I guess now I can say that my cooler is of the Frankenstein model. Neither fan was silent but the Noctua one is a little quieter than the stock and it seems to have a bit more airflow as it made about a 3-5 degree difference in cooling over the stock one.
