Hello, around a year ago. I made a thread, at that time I was extremely depressed and hopeless
But many reach out to me and help me a lots. Especially Muddy and Fleart. Shout out to them!
I have moved to a new city, got a very good job, and I'm feeling much happier now.
Now I would like to show my appreciation to this Kind comMunity.
By taking you to a short journey.
Enjoy your ride.

Hey there! You still remember it! I hope you're doing fine as well.
Yeah I don't completely abandon boxing.
It was a way for me to focus on something (plus make new friends) and temporarily forget about negative things.

I hope this is the start of a new good and happy time in your life, I can speak from experience that the only thing you can do is to take things one day at a time and celebrate all the little victories along the way. Thank you for the generosity of your train and have a great day!

So, so happy to hear that you're doing better 💜 I wish you all the best!!!

If you don't mind me asking, how did you overcome the fear of the unknown? It's just... I'm in a similar boat. I know I need to move to a new place and get a fresh start; it's the only way I'll feel better. So, at this point, my unhappiness is completely on me. I'm just so scared of the unknown and the uncertainty that lies ahead.

Think that if you believe you have the power to make yourself unhappy, it means you also have the power to make yourself happy.
We are creatures of habit by nature, it's built into our DNA so fearing the unknown is not on you, it's all of us.
But if you look at your life and can't find anything you love about it anymore, consider the alternatives.
Being possibly as unhappy somewhere else doing something else is a risk worth taking. On the other hand you might change everything that brings you down.

I left everything (work, career, family) behind to move to a new country and start working at the bottom of the ladder is something I loved. It was really scary. It was also a lot of work. If I could do it again, I would do it even sooner. I am happier and healthier now and even though I don't make as much money as I could have been if I remained in a job that was killing my soul, I wake up happy to go to work and I treasure my friends and my life.

There is no crystal ball that will tell you for sure how things will turn out if you change things for yourself. But if you're unhappy now, odds are it can only improve. My advice would be to write things down calmly. Pros and cons. Possibilities, good and bad. Then make a plan in case you do decide for a change. A detailed plan. You will see things are not as scary as they seem.
And if you're scared of making big changes, start by changing little things in your life, your routine, that can maybe bring on some positive change and make you feel more confident in taking bigger steps.

Good luck and look up. Life is enough to bring us down. Don't bring yourself down.

Hello, sorry for my late response. Fear of the unknown (FOTU) is present in all of us. It's because we're afraid that something bad will happen.
To get rid of that, when you want to move to a new place, here are a few steps to help you with the FOTU:

  1. Do some research about the place you want to move first.
(It's also better if you have a friend there.)
  2. Go there for a few days, considering it a trip, to see around and get to know the place (You can also make some more friends too).
  3. Find a job there.
  4. Once you get a job and know the place, your FOTU will lessen or even disappear.
That's what I do, or in the case Fluffster mentions, in a completely different country, it's a bit hard to follow those steps.
But the basic things to get rid of FOTU is that you should know a bit about the place first before you permanently move there.

Glad to hear that things worked out for you, dealing with depression is bad enough, and being unemployed makes it even worse (been there, doing that).
Thanks for the train, though I haven seen it (I can only find 4 out of the 5 characters).
