Just ordered this movie on Blu Ray, it's a really good price on Amazon only $13 for both the Blu Ray and DVD.

Anyone else love this movie like I do? I like it more than Spirited Away. Finally got around to buying it on Blu Ray. Disney used to do the US distribution now it's GKIDS, I like the new cover more compared to the 2014 one. Can't wait to watch it again :)

My 1st ever ghibli movie was spirited away and since then ive brought more and i have over half of them now. Princess mononoke is my 2nd favourite after howls moving castle. They are all worth trying because they are just amazing movies for anyone.

Well not all of them are amazing. I considered "Only Yesterday" to be rather boring for example. But most of them are absolutely worth watching.

I liked Only Yesterday a lot.
It's one of those very personal, introspective, internal movies that live and die on how well you relate to the protagonist. I happened to relate to her a lot, and OP might, too.

Give 'em all a shot, OP!

"Only Yesterday" as well as "Ocean waves" or "Whisper of heart" are just adult, less fairytalish then "Spirited away" etc.
"Only Yesterday" has distinguished ethnic ost, and superb BG:

I thought the childhood scenes and the art all around was simply excellent, but they could have done much more with Taeko as an adult.

Princess Mononoke was my first Miyazaki Movie (watched it in cinema) and still is my second favourite very close after Spirited Away. Absolutely love them both!

I still own it just on DVD, but I´m gonna "upgrade" to the Bluray next time it hits a decent price in Germany :)

I didn't love Princess Mononoke when I watched it as a teenager - I enjoyed it, but it's not approaching my fav Ghibli movie. I gave my DVD to a friend of mine and it ended up being his favorite movie, period.

Mine is Kiki's Delivery Service - if I could live in any fictional town, I'd live in that seaside city. Castle in the Sky and Howl's Moving Caslte are up there, too. And Ponyo, and Porco Rosso, and... they're all good, okay? So so good. The music is phenomenal and Joe Hisaishi is a national treasure.

I agree with you. I didn't love this film either, although it's a good one.
I do love Kiki's Delivery Service. Learning to stand on your own legs, not easy when you are a witch.

They know how to make good movies. But the music is even better.
And grave of the fireflies really made me cry.

They knew it before when Miyazaki was there. Now with "Mary and the Witch's Flower" or even with Miyazaki son's "Gedo senki" it's not the same

Haven't watched Mary and the Witch's Flower yet, so I can't say anything about it.

i love it but i personally think spirited away is the only masterpiece.
The other ones have too vague storylines.
I think the core message of Mononoke Hime is probably "no-war" but the other details are kinda sketchy.
but great movie. that's true

Mononoke's story is about nature's inherent dignity, about the spirits and gods all around us, and how some weird evil force possesses some human beings and makes them disregard and destroy the world for their own profit.

Yes, big fan of Hayao Miyazaki's films. Have many on dvd and even a few on vhs ( lol) though I can't play those anymore and so I have the dvds of those, it's more sentimental value. Spirited Away still is my favorite as it means something personal to me but Princess Mononoke is wonderful. Kiki's Delivery Service is great one for family. My Neighbor Totoro , Howl's Moving Castle also favorites. If you haven't seen many there is also Castle in the Sky and some others just worth seeing. I have a great big Totoro Pillow as well. :D.

Dope shirt! It's a shame you gave it away though :/
Well if he/she burned it, then he/she deserves to be an ex :D

I miss the days when seeing or hearing a comment like this was truly a rare experience for any human being and truly celebratory for the few that new.

No offense to the OP. Just a fact of getting older, and the smushy spread of things on the net in general.

princess mononoke was my proper introduction to anime.....or technically my turning point where I became aware anime was a specific thing. So it's kind of got a rank of its own that can never be outdone for me.
