In the game's defense, each DLC adds a fair amount to the game... On par with CoD map packs at least :P

The thing with the Train Simulator DLCs is that they're for train fans. You're not supposed to buy them all, you're supposed to buy the ones that have the trains or tracks that you like best.

I'll agree the DLC for JC2 isn't important, but it is so cheap (especially in sale). And the Monster Truck is fantastic good fun.

I think a better question is, what games have DLC that are worth it?

I didn't include that one since there isn't a GotY bundle yet, you have to buy it separately (except some DLCs in the Season Pass).

I hear GTA4 expansions are better than GTA4 itself.

That's not a big deal to be honest. Most of things are better than GTAIV itself

I don't think they cound as DLCs...they are stand-alone expasions or something like this.

Payday isnt worth it IMO. Base game comes with 6 missions, rather meager. I bought the DLC 2 days later and got 2 extra missions. When I installed there was no download, the content is already in the base game. What a rip-off! If Payday 2 is like this I wont purchase it. The game should have shipped with the 8 missions and the DLC should have been 2-4 extra missions

If I remember correctly, there was a fairly big download around the time the DLC was released. The DLC was also released several months after the game was released.

+1 for Oblivion. Shivering Isles is almost a game in it's own rights!
Haven't got round to trying FO3's DLC as yet, and haven't got Morrowin (yet).

skyrim, fallout, borderlands, mass effect, the magicka vietnam dlc

Surely a better way of viewing it is 'which games shouldn't you bother with until the inevitable GOTY edition'?
It'll doubtless come with all the DLC and will be priced around the £10/$20 mark (or less, come a Steam sale). It's also the only way most EA releases are going to crop up on Steam going forward.

... The Monster Truck is the best DLC for JC2. So much fun.
The others are 'meh'. They add to the game but aren't "o-m-g must buy now!111!!!!", at least they are reasonably priced (unlike some companies DLC)

Story was one of the things I found seriously lacking in Dead Island, along with almost everything else that makes a good game. The single saving grace was the gameplay which was amazing, and thankfully all you really need. I can understand that your opinion could be severely different than mine though.

Someone mentioned Just Cause 2. I remember some DLCs adding different weapons, but the bad guys would never drop ammunition for those fancy DLC weapons - so you'd quickly go back to the regular guns instead.
Perhaps it's cynical, but many DLC seem to me like an attempt at price discrimination, i.e. let the rich man pay more than the poor man. :)
Not sure how well it's working. I've paid for Paradox Interactive addon/expansion junk since I wanted to play now and not next year, but some things like Skyrim I skipped entirely, waiting for that inevitable "game of the year" edition. Oh well.

They do drop the ammo (at least for me). Rico's revolver -> ammo dropped by bad guys with revolvers, Bull's Eye ammo dropped by guys with assault rifles, launcher ammo is dropped by the (very) rarely seen guys with launchers etc.

For the record, I have nothing against price discrimination as an idea. The problem is that when it's instituted, it's mandatory.
People should volunteer to pay what they can afford if they like, as with indie game bundles.

Saints Row 3. I mean nowadays they are worth the few bucks more, but when i bought SR3 i paid more for the DLCs than for the game, which were definitely not worth it. There are like 2 or 3 good DLCs with Missions, the others are just like the JC2 DLCs.

For that just get the Season Pass which has Trouble With Clones, Gangstas in Space and Genkibowl VII, and the costume and vehicle Nyte Blade pack

Fallout 3 (with the exception of Brotherhood of Steel DLC that one is great)
