Train Simulator 2013, just look at the price of all DLCs........1500 euro LOL O.o

In the game's defense, each DLC adds a fair amount to the game... On par with CoD map packs at least :P

The thing with the Train Simulator DLCs is that they're for train fans. You're not supposed to buy them all, you're supposed to buy the ones that have the trains or tracks that you like best.

Yep, i think MP3 may be one of the few games I don't bother with the DLC at all.

Just Cause 2 doesn't really have important DLCs, same goes for Mafia 2 (save for 2 story DLCs)

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Although the Just Cause 2 DLC is not important, it is worth getting with a big discount as the items are kind of cool

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'll agree the DLC for JC2 isn't important, but it is so cheap (especially in sale). And the Monster Truck is fantastic good fun.

Mafia II has 3 story DLCs :). One is region locked though.

I think a better question is, what games have DLC that are worth it?

Borderlands.

And Borderlands 2.

1 decade ago

Comment has been collapsed.

I didn't include that one since there isn't a GotY bundle yet, you have to buy it separately (except some DLCs in the Season Pass).

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Fair enough. As a season pass holder, I have to say Torque is an excellent campaign (for the laughs).

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Torgue was fantastic until the last boss. That thing COULD have been fun, but instead it was just tedious as hell.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, fair enough. The last boss was a letdown... which kind of prepared me for the whole Hammerlock DLC.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's a shame. I've heard both ways, both people saying it's the greatest thing since Secret Armory and people who share your feelings. Guess I'll just have to play it through and find out for myself

I definitely do recommend checking it out for yourself. It's pretty short, so even if you don't enjoy it, you're not spending much time on it.

I hear GTA4 expansions are better than GTA4 itself.

That's not a big deal to be honest. Most of things are better than GTAIV itself

Well, it's the same game - and + some characters + some wapons + some vehicles, so it's the same, slightly improved (Although I liked Nico)

I don't think they cound as DLCs...they are stand-alone expasions or something like this.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

At first they were DLC's, but now they're standalone in the Stories from Liberty City, so yeah, they're both.

1 decade ago

There are quite a lot games where the dlc brings additional content. Such as Binding of Isaac, Crusader Kings 2, CiV, Orcs Must Die, etc.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Binding of Isaac really did DLC right. $3 for a crapton of extras? Yes please!

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

payday, binding of isaac, borderlands, doom 3

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Payday isnt worth it IMO. Base game comes with 6 missions, rather meager. I bought the DLC 2 days later and got 2 extra missions. When I installed there was no download, the content is already in the base game. What a rip-off! If Payday 2 is like this I wont purchase it. The game should have shipped with the 8 missions and the DLC should have been 2-4 extra missions

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If I remember correctly, there was a fairly big download around the time the DLC was released. The DLC was also released several months after the game was released.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Are u kiddin' me? The dlc is worth every cent, u get new weapons, new level to unlock, 2 new heist to host, more challanges to unlock. What else can u ask for that price..

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The point being is it's supposed to be "DLC=down loadable content" not shipped with the base game and released as DLC at a later date.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Payday DLC has same mechanism like Magicka DLCs, you can play it on server, if host has DLC

Surely a better way of viewing it is 'which games shouldn't you bother with until the inevitable GOTY edition'?

It'll doubtless come with all the DLC and will be priced around the £10/$20 mark (or less, come a Steam sale). It's also the only way most EA releases are going to crop up on Steam going forward.

Dead Island

Actually, I thought the Ryder White DLC was excellent in terms of story.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Story was one of the things I found seriously lacking in Dead Island, along with almost everything else that makes a good game. The single saving grace was the gameplay which was amazing, and thankfully all you really need. I can understand that your opinion could be severely different than mine though.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The game itself didn't have much story, I agree. But this specific DLC cleared up quite a lot about the little story that was in the game.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Someone mentioned Just Cause 2. I remember some DLCs adding different weapons, but the bad guys would never drop ammunition for those fancy DLC weapons - so you'd quickly go back to the regular guns instead.

Perhaps it's cynical, but many DLC seem to me like an attempt at price discrimination, i.e. let the rich man pay more than the poor man. :)

Not sure how well it's working. I've paid for Paradox Interactive addon/expansion junk since I wanted to play now and not next year, but some things like Skyrim I skipped entirely, waiting for that inevitable "game of the year" edition. Oh well.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They do drop the ammo (at least for me). Rico's revolver -> ammo dropped by bad guys with revolvers, Bull's Eye ammo dropped by guys with assault rifles, launcher ammo is dropped by the (very) rarely seen guys with launchers etc.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

For the record, I have nothing against price discrimination as an idea. The problem is that when it's instituted, it's mandatory.

People should volunteer to pay what they can afford if they like, as with indie game bundles.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They could SELL AMMO for those guns. My god, why didn't they think of that!

Think about it. Add some "golden" ammo that does "+3 more damage omg" and people will buy it. This could work! I want royalties!

Saints Row 3. I mean nowadays they are worth the few bucks more, but when i bought SR3 i paid more for the DLCs than for the game, which were definitely not worth it. There are like 2 or 3 good DLCs with Missions, the others are just like the JC2 DLCs.
