Please at least add option to have a Captcha for entering giveaway. I think this would be nice option to have.

I wouldnt have any problem with captcha.
I enter only few giveaways anyway, so I wouldnt have to type that often.
I think its a neat idea and should be considered.
it locks out mass entering user scripts and such.
Also some of the people ranting in this topic probably use bots or scripts themselfs and thats why they are against it.
I mean whats the proplem in solving a simple one like month before february or one+two etc.

Not even why I am against it, but you are entitled to state why you want it, or not.

I do think it's kind of funny that most of the people who support it seem to have like less than 30% public GAs... Don't get why it matters to you guys.

Not sure if troll or serious.
If serious: You clearly have no idea how the internet works.

On the contrary, I think he knows exactly how the Internet works. People use bots and other scripts to weasel their way in without any thoughts given to the giveaway maker. Anything that forces a person to do the work themselves is a good thing in my book.

Plus I might win more if less people enter giveaways because of this. ;-)

I like having this option. I have great disdain for people that use bots on SG to enter giveaways. If they can't be bothered to at least click a button, they're not worth winning squat.

People are acting like having to type a captcha is the end of the world.

I think most people reading this are thinking it would apply to every giveaway, which is a bad idea.

The suggestion actually appears to be asking to give giveaway creators an option to include a captcha, which is less of a bad idea.

I'm guessing having the option to add a captcha when creating the giveaway could work. It's up to the giveaway creator to decide if he wants to fight bots, at the expense of alienating some people. (It would, however, give better odds in those giveaways)

I hate captchas as well as the next man, but I always welcome any idea that would seriously piss a lot of people off.

mm a captcha every 10 giveaway entered wouln't be too bad, especially if you use the "one click" style ones, but I don't know for real, maybe we should focus on double accounts (if there are some) :)

What's the point of this?

Even if you had a bot that entered giveaways, it'd be blocked by running out of points. This is pointless and just ruins everyone's day.

There are better ways to detect bots.

We should also add obligatory thank-you comments... jokes aside, who the fuck would like to spend time typing captcha? now multiply that to 1k,2k,10k giveaways entered...

Better question, who the heck enter that many giveaways?

Most of them are from forum posts. Yet, I do have about 5k giveaways entered. D: But, in my defense, that's over the course of almost 3 years.

even though I don't like CAPTCHAs very much, I still hold nothing against the things otousama said in his replys on page 1. An algorithm looking for bots and giving them CAPTCHAs to fill out sounds like a neat idea to me - even though I don't have any clue as to how difficult it is to implement.

I don't think a captcha is going to prevent them from doing that.

Captchas can't stop bots, even recaptcha can be solved programmatically. Only a really small % of captchas can stop bots.
