There are a few really good games! Considering how cheap it is, I can only say yes. And it doesn't even need CF, because the games are dirt cheap too ^^.

Yeah if you're interested in the game library because its not likely to grow outside of japan at this point.
Also UMDs may be hard to find at this stage as well. You can get most games from the playstation store though but not sure how reasonable the pricing is.

Yeah I kind of avoided mentioning that in case it broke a forum rule or something
y'know piracy and all

CFW allow homebrew application to run, although it used for piracy mainly there are other application like customizing the look of a psp or run 3rd party applications. Shouldn't be problem. like Torrents for example, people link the word "torrent" to piracy but original purpose of a torrent was to share information online. so yer

the graphics on god of war are fantastic for handheld game on a 9 year old system but its still feels a significant downgrade from the ps3 releases
Comment has been collapsed.
There is no new game about a year or more. So the games you can play is limited. And im not sure you can even buy all of them.
If you not hack your psp with a custom frimware you can only play psp games. But if you use a cfw you can play gb,gba,nes,snes,ps1 games.

"So the games you can play is limited"
Apart from the entire psp library you mean? :P

Never understood that logic, if anything its best to get a console when its all done and finished, cheaper games, all the games that will ever come out, etc...

Getting a handheld console is what you wish for or playing God of War on a console? cause GoW is awesome for the big screen. I've played on psp too but it's way better on ps3 + more GoW titles are comming out for ps3 than psp and you can play the first ones too on it.
Psp is really cheap nowdays as is ps3 too..i got my ps3 for 270 euros including 3 games and 2 controllers :3

I suggest you to get ps3 then ;)There won't be more new games for psp and they gonna stop selling it soon. As i see you don't have enough money atm but when you'll be able to get a console ps3's price will get down cause of ps4's release. They already sell its games in low prices , so i guess you'll find some nice bundles with games if you get it in mid 2014 :) graphics are awesome, i've played GoW Ascension on it and now i want to by the whole series. :)Start saving money ;D

well games like
-Final Fantasy Crisis Core
-Final fantasy Dissdia
-Metal gear solid games
-God eater
-monster hunter
-kingdom hearts birth by sleep
-Ratchet and Clank: size matters
are all games I enjoyed from the top of head. I don't know if any of those are appealing to you or not

Hmmm... well, if he has a PS3 (doubtful with the over-emphasis of the poors part) then any PSP game available on PSN is transferable (except a small, small amount). So it plays most PSP games.
Then you've got a really nice screen for the PS1 classics, which is kinda the only reason I want one, heh.

Don't bother buying a 3000, get a PSP Phat (1000) instead, they're easier to homebrew =] I have one alongside my Vita with 64gb worth of Snes, Nes, N64, PSP, PsOne and Gameboy games. You won't regret it

I still use my psp for all kinds of emulation. Touch screen stuff just won't do the trick.

Get a 2000, Ive been running a PSP forum for some time.
1k is good, but the screen is garbage and the batt too
2k is still easy to homebrew but the screen is a bit better and so is the battery
3k is a no-no although the screen is much brighter (its codename is brite) it is much more difficult to homebrew/permahack.
if you need any help psperspective.net ask for beardy. we can even find you a good deal :P

You run a PSP forum and you're telling people that it's hard to hack a PSP 3000?? o_O
You haven't seen the latest LCFW's by Team PRO or Neur0n then have you? (By latest I mean since 2011...)

A homebrewed PSP is great because you can get (cough cough) pirated games and emulators for NES, SNES, NEO-GEO and some PS1 titles.
Other than that its game library is pretty meh, so I suggest getting a used (preferably homebrewed) PSP 2000.
If you just want to play some decent console games on the cheap, you should really get a PS2.

I've got a PSP Go that I use regularly for emulation and its great for that, I do occasionally play PSP games on it but I mainly use my PSP 2000 for that as its got the UMD drive & the fact the Go uses the awkward M2 memory card format. A PSP is worth it, its got a great selection of games and they do look good as well.

I have a PSP-2000, and i can tell you a bunch of things. I'm going to be serious on this: i love my PSP, but i wouldn't recommend it.
If you want a portable gaming device for the cheap, i would tell you to get a Nintendo DS or a PSVita instead.
Why i don't like my PSP:
My verdict: A) Get a PSP emulator for your PC and play them.
B) Get a PS Vita with PS+ if you can afford it (it will last longer than your PSP).
C) Get a Nintendo DS, which is much more easy to homebrew and has a lot of games.
Don't get me wrong. The PSP is an amazing platform, but even the best game on it (MGS: Peace Walker) is available for PS3 and Xbox 360. And that one has a lot of story in it to understand MGS V.

Every model PSP can be hacked, depending on the firmware you can even install permanent CFW on a PSP 3000.

For 100$ a PSP is a straight up rip off... I don't know where you live, but in Canada most PSP's go between 30$ to 60$ depending on if it's limited edition or not. It's also worth it alone for the homebrew, emulators for the PSP the play retro consoles like the SNES and Genesis, and even the GBA. If not that, it's really easy to "back up" PSP games to your PSP if you don't like carrying around UMD's.

PSP3000 has measures in place that prevent CFW from being permaflashed to the board. I don't know about you, but I don't want to have to take steps to make my homebrew and stuff work every time I boot the damn thing.
A built in mic and Skype doesn't make it worth it.

I have a 3000, with cfw. I rarely fully turn off my psp, even before cfw I usually used sleep mode. But even if you do turn it off, you can just launch the quick restore. So turn on, go to games, press X on quick restore, wait five seconds, and boom done youre back in the cfw

I'm thinking of getting a core pack PSP 3000, because $100 was a pretty good price for handheld gaming console. Is it really worth it, i'm thinking of playing games such as god of war on it. Are the graphics okay?
I'm getting it in mid 2014 becuase i'm really poor :(
