So I stumbled over The Divine Invasion on Humble, noticing a rather long duration of the sale - 100+ days (see image).

It might be a mistake but in todays times of asset flips and putting free, open source games on Steam, I rather suspect foul play.

What is your opinion seeing such a sale?

They also have this https://www.humblebundle.com/store/backbone-prologue with 356586 days, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

That should be an error, the prologue should be free indefinitely.

Maybe the publishers/developers are allowed to set these custom sale durations? So it could be an experiment on their part with how sales go. I've seen Whale Rock Games (devs/publishers of The Divine Invasion) experiment that way with Steam sales as well, using Steam bundles to go as low as 0.01€ per game, although those were quickly fixed as price glitches.

So probably it is experimental (= lure people to buy the "fantastic deal") and they will "correct their mistake" if there is any issue ....

I don't think that this is an error. I think it's because of the shop software which doesnt allow a 100% for an indefinite time.
The Crying Suns demo also has a very long runtime:

I seem to remember that both were just "free" without a timelimit.
Maybe an updated package that messes up "indefinitely".

That's just what I sdaid. But HB doesn't seem to be able to do it with their shop software, so they set the timer to a very long time.

Sorry, I meant those were displayed without a time limit on Humble. So I suspect an update.

Either way, 100 days is something else imho.

I can see a time limit on every demo/prologue.

This is (quite sadly) pretty normal on Humble. If you check the games on sale by top discount you'll see a few games / demos that are always there. We Are The Dwarves has been on -96% for ages and surprise it's on sale for 99 days...

Thanks. I honestly never noticed.
Sure it seems that the same couple of games were on sale all the time, but I just assumed that the go on sale every other week. Seems some of those are on sale just for quite long times.

I will close the thread.
