Square Enix isn't exactly known for making smart decisions when it comes to their non-Japanese audience. I want this to happen too, but the smart money is on betting they won't do it within the next ten years.

In first week sales, Final Fantasy 13 sold 6.92m while Deus Ex Human Revolution sold 2.81m.
I had hoped that there was a financial reason. I guess the Final Fantasy franchise would still last another 20 years if they never advertised any future titles.
An interesting observation - first week sales of Final Fantasy 13 on PS3 outsold the XBox 360 version by 2.5x, while Deus Ex Human Revolution was nearly equal on PS3 and 360, with the 360 version barely winning. The PC version of Human Revolution accounted for only 17.7% of all first week sales.

Wow. Just wow. I didn't know these sales figures. Goes to show how much people like Final Fantasy, because 13 is the most complained about game in the franchise and it still outdid Square's other game...

please, all, care less about old, outdated FF games and start a petition addressed to sqaure-enix, to make an actual good FF game...or good game in general. (FFX was developed before square soft messed up with the movie and forced a fusion with enix, so this on doesn't count)

Once they see that people are more interested in their jrpg franchises than games such a Deus Ex etc (not calling that a bad game in any way) they might put more effort into Final Fantasy again. In fact, their conference is on the 11th so we will see what they're up to :)

Basically, I think Square Enix needs to bring all their classic Final Fantasy games, along with titles like Chrono Trigger/Cross, to Steam. Clearly it's not impossible since Sega is bringing their Sega Genesis games to Steam. But yeah, if these games can be released on the iOS Appstore and the Google Playstore, there's no reason Steam shouldn't have them. Here's the link to the petition if anyone wants to support it.
