I'll buy a new phone and I'm thinking in Windows Phone, but it don't have official Steam app, so I found this Unofficial Steam Authenticator for Windows Phone thing. If it isn't good I won't buy WP.
Anyone tried it? Is it a trusted app? Will I regret if I buy WP?

I wouldn't use an unofficial Steam authenticator although I haven't used it before so I can't say if it's good or bad.

Well, some people use their phones for talking. I know, strange. For me, WP was the best solution: I installed a battery and a music player app, and enjoy the fast system and the 5-6 day battery life on my 100-dollar phone.

I had an Android in that price range. Well, three, actually, all Galaxies. All of them were slow as fuck and the record-holder managed to drain its battery in 36 hours tops. The current one is dual-SIM, I could sync it with the company Exchange server and my own Outlook address book, so I can use it for communication any way I want without worrying if the thing can even survive a weekend.

samsung is quite shitty in low-entry range :c

Most any Androids are shitty under the high-mid range. And by the time they get good, their price could go for an iPhone or a Blackberry instead. I think I'd have some fun with a more expensive Xaomi, HTC, or maybe even Sony, but that would have cost several times more than my Lumia 532.

Agree, I thing that on the low tier Windows phones are the best, maybe a few androids can be acceptable on that price range, like the moto e or the asus zenwhatever

And that is what I needed. A maximum 4-inch phone with dual-SIM and 72 hours+ uptime with a single charge, and the ability to get my work mail if needed—along with a good map, ability to use an SD card for my music, and a music player that is able to load based on directory structure. The latter I had to pay for (3 dollars I think?), the rest only this phone provided.

If you are gonna ignore all the benefits of modern OS, then you can use pretty much whatever you want.
If you see the recent news, MS has been cutting off their workforce in the mobile department.

But what benefits are those? I can communicate, navigate, and listen to music. What else would a display screen half of my palm offer to me? And the larger ones are not comfortable to hold, even though I have larger hands.

I love small phones myself. I hate the big ones. iPhone 4 was the perfect size for me, before Apple made it larger.
And I dont know your lifestyle so I got no idea what you would like in a phone.

I could say NFC is useful.. I used it when I forgot my bank card home and fueled up by mistake. Saved me from being in an embarrassing position. I like the option to open documents on my phone. Just to view them when I am out of the house. I like being able to do banking. I like being able to use applications like face book messenger, which I use a lot for voice calling and sometimes video calling. I love reading ebooks on my phone. I don't carry my kindle with me outside wherever I go, so its useful when I am stuck with nothing to do. I never ever game on my phone, though some people seem to like having games for their OS. There really are a lot of uses you can get out of your phone. But like I said, if you don't intend to use your phone for what most people use them for, then OS or even the manufacturer does not make much difference. It doesn't make WP better, it just makes it "not crap" for your usage scenario.

I haven't tried it, but it has solid reviews so I wouldn't worry about it being a scam. I have a Windows Phone, but I use BlueStacks (android emulator) on my desktop so I don't have to use my phone to confirm purchases, which works well enough because I only use my one computer.

Windows Phone (10) is actually pretty fabulous, and IMO the snappiest and smoothest OS of them all. Fantastic resource management too.
As for apps, majority of my daily apps have stable and up-to-date releases on the store (spotify, bank, waze, zomato, etc). If it isn't there, then third party or mobile websites usually works for me.
Bluestacks is pretty viable if you don't want to risk the third party app though.

OH, btw! If you don't want to spend to much on a new phone, check out Lumia 640XL/650. You can get it for 200$ outright. Excellent value for money, i think.
Best to check it out in person at a store or something. It's not for everyone, and I get that.

Don't really know why, in Italy I see a lot of Windows Phones, but they say it has a very small market share... Maybe it's due to the fact that Nokia was a very popular brand here back in the days.
I have one myself (Nokia Lumia 830) and I'm pretty disappointed that some major applications don't have a WP version yet. No (official) Steam, no Hearthstone, Whatsapp sucks...

WinPhone is relatively popular in Europe. Its global market share is low. Asia buys Androids and Android knock-offs, USA buys iProfits.

How exactly does Whatsapp suck? I'm thinking about buying a Windows Phone (mainly because they seem to be best low tier phones for the things I want with it), but if Whatsapp doesn't work well, I won't get it (we use Whatsapp a lot for school, so it really needs to work).

Sometimes it crashes out of nowhere (selecting/sending a photo, opening the app from the notification, opening a chat... you name it), sometimes you don't get notifications unless you open it... I think there are some updates that are just a mess, then they take quite some time to fix it properly.
I agree with you that WP are the best low tier smartphones, for the basic use (phone calls, texting, browsing, taking and watching photos) even 80-100€ models run quite well and smoothly.

I'm happy with my Windows Phone.
The unofficial Steam authenticator works great for me. I've been using it since it came out and the only problem I've had with it is that it crashes about 5% of the time. (But that's probably only because I put up a lot of market listings.) Better than no authenticator anyway.

There's really no reason to get a Windows phone unless it's free, or your only option, they have come no where near the level of compatibility of Droid or Apple with apps, and even Kindle has better compatibility. Just more of Microsoft trying to do everything at an acceptable level, while being phenomenal at nothing.

Also quite possible an unofficial app will be taken down, it's clear Steam is concerned with breaches, and allowing that to exist would just be too high a chance of one.

Although I do agree that the amount of apps for the Windows Phone is lacking, they are definitly good options for some people. They seem to be one of the best phones if you want a low tier one. I personally don't give a shit about apps (only want to use it to comunicate and listen to music), so for me, Windows Phone is a pretty good option.

There are like, 20 dollar droid phones that work fine, and still have more apps if that ever became a concern. If you don't care about apps, why get a touch phone at all? They still make the blackberry keyboard style, and you can even get flip phones from some carriers.

I personally bought a Lumia a couple of years back just to try a Windows phone. Needless to say it's a bad move (personal opinion, of course). I switched to Sony Xperia a year later.

Can I ask why?

Well, mostly because of it's apps population. I for one enjoy exploring the app market, hoping I'd find something rare and fun to use, however, the Windows app store is mostly filled with subpar apps and even broken apps sometimes. The interface, while sleek, for me is a little bit not too userfriendly as it's hard to reach tools or apps that you need without having to tap and swipe multiple times, compared to the Android for example utilizes the drag down dashboard (not sure the exact name) for settings shortcut.

Overall, I think everything boils down to everyone's personal experience with the phone. I know some of my friends which absolutely adore the Windows ecosystem but for me, Android is still the best one to use in terms of accessibility and functionality.
