Include Paul?
Supergiant Games for sure
Edit: Also Subset Games
Edit 2: and Team Cherry. Although they've only put out one game so far, the work they put into Hollow Knight is crazy
Edit 3: Almost forgot about Playdead!
Edit 4: Fullbright as well
I think I'm done now lmao

It's definately not for everyone, but I was always a fan of Spiderweb Software

Daedalic Entertainment makes some of the best point and click games. I am always happy to see a new game from them. They are also a publisher, so they release some games that they didn't develop themselves.
Also, how can nobody mention Valve? Their games are amazing.
Freebird Games only has a few games on Steam, but they are good (To The Moon, A Bird Story, Finding Paradise).

Probably because Valve doesn't really make games anymore
I agree on Daedelic though. At least as far as their point & click games go. The Long Journey Home was pretty bad apparently
Loved To The Moon, haven't played the rest yet

In case is you haven't heard, Daedalic have recently announced that they are done with point-and-click (not to mention that Silence and Pillars of the Earth were closer to interactive movies than to classic adventure games).

I didn't know that. I enjoyed Silence, but it was definitely not what I was expecting. I loved the visuals, but the game was short, the story was lacking, and there wasn't much exploring or things to do.

In case if you speak German (I don't, I've read a short recap in Russian), here's the link: https://www.adventure-treff.de/interviews/15682-quo-vadis-daedalic-interview-mit-tim-krause-murroni
From what I get, they're done with classic 2D point-and-click, but hopefully not with adventure games in general.

I read it with google translate and he says that they will continue to create story driven adventure games with good visuals, but they will not be in the point and click style because they don't make enough money from point and click games.
I guess a lot of gamers are turned off by point and click games. It is similar with hidden object and visual novels. There is a niche market that loves the games, but it is a small market compared to other game styles and they want to move into the more widely accepted style of games to reach a larger audience and make more money.

I didn't almost play D3, only in the beginning, so can't make a full conclusion about the game, but overall I liked the beginning and probably would continue to play if there was an opportunity. But, of course, I understand your disappointment. I just love games similar to Diablo (like Sacred, Torchlight, Titan Quest), so I'm ready to forgive them for many flaws.

Unfortunately, didn't play the last games, but first Divine Divinity was great, and such a beautiful soundtrack Divine Divinity - Main Theme

Also, props to Unknown Worlds (Devs from Subnautica, they nailed it like few early-access games did)

What Remains of Edith Finch is one of my favorite narrative games ever, it really gets into you. Props to Giant Sparrow.
I've also got my sights on Ashen, hope it delivers.

Artifex Mundi is a favourite of mine
Edit: Superbrothers did a great job developing Swords and Sworcery.

Probably Wadjet Eye and a couple of even more tiny companies.

CDPR because they seem to actually care of the community, Obsidian because they are always great at crafting engaging stories and incredible RPG mechanics even though their actual programmers are a bunch of monkeys, Rocksteady because they demonstrated that good licensed games are possible and Naughty Dog because so far they didn't miss a shot.

Do you have your favorite devs that never (or rarely) disappoint you with their releases? Which ones are the promise of a good game? For me it's Klei for sure. Zachtronics also seems to create quality stuff.
1) Klei
2) Zachtronics
3) CD Project Red
4) 11 bit
5) Introversion
6) Pixeljam
7) Supergiant Games
8) Subset Games
9) Playdead
10) Fullbright
11) Obsidian
