+1 for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl (I recommend the free Stalker Complete mod available on moddb). It has impressive atmosphere and the weapons feel great. I also really like the way they did the AI so that creatures appear to genuinely have their own lives regardless of whether you're there or not. Seeing them interact with each other, NPCs and anomalies really adds to the immersion by making it feel like you are in a real world, not just a series of events constructed specifically for you.

Far Cry 2 is also very good. It has a big beautifully crafted world, great gunplay, weapons that wear (to the point of jamming!) and the ability to tactically use realistically modelled fire It's let down a little by all the driving required and the checkpoint enemy spawning but is definitely still worth playing. If the same level of detail had gone into the wheeled vehicle physics as the other aspects of the game, and Ubisoft had made it more mod-friendly, it would be just about unstoppable.

For a less gritty experience, both Far Cry 3 and Tomb Raider are quite engaging.

If you like your games slow and stealthy, thehunter can be really enjoyable. Sadly, you can not hunt "the most dangerous game", but there is a good variety of animals, (which have extremely detailed models - see image of hitboxes for Mule Deer) to hunt in a large number of very detailed maps representing different biomes.

Title question - TimeSplitters: Future Perfect

Not sure of any good titles similar to the Bioshock series though other than the obvious System Shock.

Not much like Bioshock, but I greatly enjoyed the Wolfenstein series. Also, sorta like Bioshock, The F.E.A.R series. Skip the third installment though, it's really boring and not very good. I heard Bioshock Infinite is fun. I didn't think it was as good as the first and second though. I'd recommend playing Burial At Sea instead, if you enjoyed the original bioshocks.

I just bought Wolfenstein New Order from HB winter sale. I loved the first Wolfenstein and I can't wait to play the sequel. I'm glad you liked it.

I started Fear 2 but it is way too scary for my taste.I ll start Borderlands I guess since so many people have suggested it!Have fun and try to unlock perks if you find a good spot that you can do some of them near a checkpoint you can repeat it as many times as you want and you will still get the perk!

Thanks for the info! I would definitely recommend playing Borderlands with friends. Borderlands solo can get extremely boring at times.

Borderlands is a great FPS Multiplayer Coop game, fun campaign specially part 2. Multiplayer only, I'll stick with Battlefield (right now, BF 4).

TF2.

Plus Hard Reset has so many explosions that made the game very entertaining. and it's hard!

I would have to say Borderlands, main one I play myself. Just not into the COD of Battlefront games.

Only other ones I got into in the past was the old Quake 2 and Unreal 2004. But haven't played them in years.

You've probably played it, but Half-Life 2. Top notch game that everyone who likes FPS games needs to play.
If you prefer online FPSs, then definitely play Overwatch.

Bioshock 1 - great game, but bad FPS, like his '"father" - System Shock, Bioshock 2 - good fanfiction, but not really original game.
Other games like Stalker, Wolfenstein and other in the main call, I would also add

  • Dishonored (hightly recommend),
  • Singularity (too),
  • Deus Ex series,
  • Heretic/Hexen (old games)
  • maybe The Chronicles of Riddick, Dark Messiah af Might & Magic and Alien Isolation.

Favourite FPS single games - Serious Sam Second Encounter, Half-Life 2, FEAR, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Brutal Doom.
Online - Quake 3, CS GO, Titanfall 2.
Bioshock, Overwatch, Fallout 3 New Vegas - not really FPS games.

favorite from these days would be DOOM
Like somebody before said . . . Singularity was kinda cool and System shock 2 tho you've already tried that it seems . . .
Deus ex might be a game to try . . . tho it won't have much in the spooks factor and ain't much like bioshock
I guess there aren't all that many games like that. . .
Dead space? maaybe?
