It will make you learn songs. For theory Im not really sure because I already know how to play guitar before getting rocksmith. That is just my dream come true playing guitar hero using real guitar

I just searched for the latest patch notes.. There are just 2 alternatives to the real-tone-cable:
1) Microphone Mode: Let's the game pick up the instrument via mic. (interference through background noises, mic sensitivity etc.) tl;dr no clean alternative
2) Disconnect Mode: Only shows you the notes, no connection between instrument and pc. tl;dr same as youtube lessons

Does Rocksmith have a bass mode or is it really just for guitars? 'Cause I only own a bass and regardless of your requirement (which is more than fair, by the way), I wouldn't want to enter if there's no bass support. Thank you :)

Oh, it's just some off-brand beginner one (I honestly can't even remember the brand right now) that one of my ex-girlfriends got me way back in the day, cause she knew I wanted one and I didn't have the courage to tell her it was crap. The intention was really sweet though, and as the saying goes, that's what counts :)

Awesome "game"!
For the people who wonder, you have some technic lessons (also mini games) to help you, so yeah you learn with this game but not as good as with a teacher. I only play guitar with Rocksmith, I never took real lessons with a teacher so I probably do some stuffs not perfectly but I am able to play a lot of songs. I still need to progress though.
The key is: practice a lot. With this game, the practice will be very fun and motivating! You can adjust the difficulty, the speed of a song, choose the part of the song you want.
And to encourage the beginners:
Don't give up, even if your hands and arms hurt you, it's normal! If you have very small hands like me, don't give up! I thought a lot of time "Damn, my fingers can't go there to there, it's impossible!" but after a lot of practice, most of time (depending of the songs), I can do it now! Believe in you! :)

That is a great giveaway for people that are starting to play the guitar or that want to learn some new songs.
Unfortunately it requires uplay, has no family sharing and now uses denuvo drm so I'm not interested. Have a bump anyway :)

Yes and no about Uplay. Personally I never linked my account and I can still play. You just have to press "esc" when it ask you to connect at Uplay to avoid it.
Without Uplay, the scores you will do in the "Score Attack" game and mini games will not be in the leaderboard.
