Like How Do You Run Out Of Points?
...I HAVE YET TO SEE a GA for games on my wishlist...
okay thats not technically true as ive started to see death punch GA's today but putting that on my wishlist was just a whim

You have a 40 game wishlist, while his is almost 600...

nothing wrong with that >_<
its surprising you can find that many that strike your fancy

I like a wide variety of games. My taste has changed over time, but the categories I like have only grown over time. I think its at a limit though. I don't think I'll ever enjoy typical puzzle games or side-scrolling platforming games.
Doing constant research on gaming and video games to find more helps.

A lot of users enter for games they do not wish to play. I enter for my wishlist and only run out if there has been a recent bundle for 1 or more wishlist games.

unless you're not interested in bundle games.
or just very poor and/or greedy
Comment has been collapsed.
or-OR you could buy a bundle even if theirs only one game you want in it then just give all the other games away.

and I need like...to pay for university.
used to be all the games in said bundles I didn't use myself I'd send to friends but now it looks like imma just send most of them here.

what...if you used your points to get more points?
Comment has been collapsed.
The community gets 10% of the game's value in points, so anybody can only enter 10% of the games point-wise, tops (if you own the games made the giveaway for, ofc you can not enter.) Sometimes it can feel a lot, another times not that much - when high point giveaway you want to enter are created en masse, it can really drain one's points.

I...did not know that
most of the time I sit on a page going down it blacklisting all the games I don't want (entering ones I do)
so now whenever I check the main GA is only 1-2 pages long

Well done, me! :D Seems like accidentally deleted the ending :D it supposed to something something that there were times when I had enough games wishlisted to consistently spend my points, nowadays the GA page usually shows 20-30 games for me :)

That usually only happens when a bundle comes out that for some reason I cant get even though there's stuff I want in it(ie Humble monthly on months I decided to skip) and the site is flooded with those games for a few days. Besides that I'm usually over 200p
Or alternatively if there's an event with a looooot of gibs at the same time like SimGive mentioned above(havent participated in that one)

Extremely rarely. Usually, it's when I under various 60p giveaways that some generous members of the community create. Otherwise, I sit constantly on 300p, and I rarely go under 200.

from a technical standpoint I believe...you may be right!

I ride my way down them but only enter 1-2 from em...

I mean sure I'm still level 3 and there might not be as many GA situated down here but still
https://www.steamgifts.com/stats/community/giveaways
Scroll down a bit, to "Per Level".
Similarly, [as a level 8 user] I can personally attest to level 0-3 giveaways being the dominant majority of the ones I come across, though there's reasonable representation up through level 5. Past that the giveaways tend to be comparatively rare. (Put another way, my experiences match to the ratios indicated on the page linked above.)
Do any of you ever run out?
If a bundle gets released with a high-point-cost game you want, or the bundle is mostly composed of games you want, then you'll end up running out of points fast. Several Humble Monthlies have seen me dry on points, and watching giveaways pass by without entry.
Other than those occasions? No; unless you're the type to enter everything you can, it's unlikely you'll run short on points. Most everyone I have regular, personal communication with on SG affirms that they, like me, tend to hover at 300P quite often.
Though.. you say "entered ALL the GA"- are you making sure to enter invite-only giveaways here on the forums, as well? They tend toward much better odds than even higher level public GAs [most of my own have been low double digit entries, and seeing quadruple digits on forum giveaways is rare], and may help you not have to burn extra points at 300 as often.

well I mean up untill now I've entered all the GA for flat hero's and most of the morphblade's for instance (and there was alot of those recently) going through every single train (that I've been able too due to level) and thats not includeing all the random things I've entered that have struck my fancy-that being said I've only ever dipped below 200p and bottoming out around 150p
I guess I'm just not entering enough

If you're entering for everything you want, you're entering enough. :)
That said, it may be to your benefit to explore around and learn about new games [if you don't wanna manually check each game that pops up on Steam Queue or in giveaways to see if you like them, you can always create a thread with your preferences detailed and see what the community recommends], so you don't miss entering into giveaways you're interested in.
Personally, it's extremely rare that a giveaway hits SG that I'm not already familiar with the game for, given my tendency to have Steam Queue cleared. Even after browsing the 13000+ games on Steam [and excluding the games I already have in library], there's "only" 400 or so that I'm interested enough in to be willing to enter giveaways for. Yet, as I noted, I'm still never lacking for points except in specific, (basically at most once or twice a month) circumstances. (In fact, it's uncommon for me to have more than 2 pages of giveaways in my wishlist tab on the site outside of a bundle release of one or more of those games.) If all you're interested in is 2 games, there's no doubt you'll be flush with points.
For better or worse, SG doesn't use a 'focusing on one game boosts your chances' system, and rather, encourages you to explore all your interests evenly, aiming for every game you have interest in, rather than just whichever one caught your passing fancy the most in that moment.
So, really.. just take every moment you have leftover points as an excuse to look at giveaways to see which games you've overlooked till now. Isn't that part of the fun of being a gamer, discovering something new and compelling that you hadn't thought to see before you came across it? :)
[And, just a reminder, you can hide games you're not interested in by clicking the eye symbol next to their listing in the giveaway search list. Super useful. ^.^]

well...hideing games is actually how I progress though each page (hideing every single game I don't want as I go down the list entering the ones I do then refreshing and doing it again till I reach the end.(gotten to 15 hundred in a week)
I kinda wish I didn't have to click confirm each time tho

It's easy to accidentally hide a game otherwise (I'd know). And since there's no log that SG offers you, you'd not even know what you accidentally removed.
Still, if you're certain, there's probably a userscript that'll change that for you, so just ask around for it.

Hasn't been a new bundle in a while but I hover at 0 points all the time =P. And I don't just enter every giveaway I see. I only enter things things that I looked up already and liked how they looked (aka wishlist).
It's really easy to spend all your points if you're a (hardcore?) variety gamer.

Also?
I think I ran out of points once...it was the summer of 2006
Really? Come on, we all know which summer it was.

oh how could I have missed making this reff-
I couldn't think of when steamgifts was made (wanting to pick a date before) and so just picked a really old date that I was sure would work.

Most of the time I run out of points. My wishlist is small because I don't really WL all games that I encounter on steam that is of my taste, I only wishlist them if I'm interested to buy it on a sale only when the discount is really good. As for other GAs, most of them are games w/ ez or moderate achievements, jrpg/rpgmaker, famous classic MP games, HOGs, point n clicks, and lastly, ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) "for the plot!" games.

I can attest to not wish listing everything I want-I also find I've wishlisted games I wouldn't buy normally tho (mostly really expensive VN) just incase they ever go to like 80% off
Comment has been collapsed.
I used to run out of points quite a lot. But I managed to get most games I'm interested in, and I don't enter games I'm not interested in. The only time I run out of points now is if a humblebundle gets released that contains several games that I really want, particularly if one of those games has a high point requirement.

yeah that whole answer was just really badly worded and idek why so many people chose it-guess I should have provided more options for the people who run out frequently.

Be thankful we can't be boiled, mashed, or thrown into a stew in modern times.

Well, I can easily run out of points a day when a new Humble Monthly is out if there's a wishlisted game there.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm constantly browsing discussions and people usually have massive trains or events with lots of wishlisted giveaways in them.
I am constantly at 0 points. I don't wishlist every single game, only games I really want to play.
Sometimes those games end up being utter crap (Camera Obscura, Dungeon of Zolthan, Sparkle series, Zenodyne R, Zenohell)

I've been here for like a week or so and I've entered a whole bunch of GA...like I entered ALL the GA for some games but as of now I have yet to run out of points once. I mean sure I'm still level 3 and there might not be as many GA situated down here but still...
Is the only point of these points to limit all the auto entry scripts from entering absolutely everything?
Do any of you ever run out?
