Don't worry. I had to edit the original post because everyone misunderstood me:)

Download directly from the Humble Bundle site. Problem solved. :P

Suppose I'll go that route...just need to download a proper download manager first.

I'm aware of that, I mentioned it in another comment. However, if it has no seeds, then it doesn't matter, it won't work.

Or maybe people just want to leech off seeds then ignore it. Torrents depends on users.

It's both, Humble has a web seed, but the main point of the option is to offset the strain from their servers by spreading it around.

You all do realize that the torrent links are directly from HumbleBundle, right? And that the torrent downloads cost them less bandwidth than the direct downloads?

And this thread is the classic example of people who need to remember this simple equation.
TORRENTS =/= PIRACY.
There are legal torrents. He is talking, about legal torrents. Humble bundle provide torrents as an alternative to direct downloads with their site, because this saves them on bandwidth costs, since it is P2P. You still have to pay to access those torrents, and he's just asking you to seed because then it downloads faster.

Indeed, there are legal torrents of the files. They can also be leaked though.
At this point though, if one of those torrents doesn't have a seed, he won't be able to change it here.

Is it possible to convert the direct download to a torrent so that I can seed it?
Comment has been collapsed.
They should be the same file, so yes. Just make sure the filename is the same. Open the torrent in your torrent client, point it to the directory with the file/installer and it should start seeding.

+1 If he buys the bundle, it's not wrong to download it via torrent.

ITT: geniuses
I'd seed, but I don't tend to use them, I'm afraid, so no help here.

Not having enough seeds is the nightmare of every pirate. xD

While that may be true, I don't see why this is relevant.

It can be faster speeds depending on the seeds, and saves Humble Bundle some money since it isn't downloading from them.

That would be awesome of you! lol. 3mbps not much? My max download is ~400kbps...
I still have Brutal Legend, Alan Wake, Trine 2 Complete Story, Mark of the Ninja and Awesomenauts queued.
Do you have them?
Comment has been collapsed.
Bumped those up my priority list. My upload isn't great, but every little helps.

I have all of 'em, just started the downloads.
EDIT: I'm using uTorrent and nothing will seed. I've a yellow caution sign in the bottom right corner, but when I run the network test I get green check marks. Any ideas? I'm a torrent nub.
EDIT 2: Nevermind, it magically started working after I posted Edit 1.

Just a note to say currently seeding everything from the last few Humbles. I'll swap out old ones that aren't used any time a new bundle comes out.

I'm currently downloading everything I can torrent (though there's some that give me errors, like all of the Mojam bundle). Anyone have any preferences as to what order I download stuff in? I can bump stuff to the top of the queue.
Edit: Never mind. Started hitting the huge downloads, like Brutal Legend. Forgot about those. It's going to very rapidly spiral out of control if I do all of them. I'll do the last three bundles, plus any special requests.

Last time I checked, Humble torrents had webseeds, which means you always have at least 1 seeder (their webserver). It's possible they removed/broke that though.
Anyway, you could copy the direct download link and manually add it as a webseed. Or get a decent download manager and just use the direct downloads in the first place.

If your connection speed is bad enough it makes the larger downloads unstable. If any little thing goes wrong, like you forgot about the download and close the window or some slight error occurs, you have to start all over again. Torrenting them means you can resume later. DD is better for the smaller games, torrenting is better for the larger ones.

Um, the ability to resume a download has existed for much longer than torrents have. Back in the 90s when most people still had dial up people created programs to allow for that. Now it's built into most web browsers.

I feel like a constant leech when using torrents, as my upload speed doesn't go over 56kb/s, at least i leave them running for a day or two.
