When do you bump a discussion?
bump when:
- i need to increase my post count
- i like to spam but not get suspended for it (not against the rules™)
- i don't have anything to say so i copy/paste the same message in all threads
- if i want to be reply but i don't care what OP wrote in his thread
- i want to artificially keep threads in the first page despite no one else caring about them

artificially keep threads in the first page despite no one else caring about them
not against the rules™
Honestly I was surprised by this and the sheer amount of bumping present when I first started partaking in the discussion forums here. Many places I frequent either have rules against artificially bumping threads with posts containing no content other than "bump" or similar, or it's just not done.

+1, I use this enhanced discussions script just for the purpose of sorting threads by the date created.

Was surprised of this in the beginnings, too. But I think especially for threads with GA(s) it's okay.
This could also be another time to think about the discussion categories, but then there are thread creators who don't want to have their threads in a GA section, because the GAs are hidden.. Cake Day / level spam etc. is mostly combined with GAs and entering. So how to split them up?

Well, these choices aren't mutually exclusive, of course.
I'll always bump when I've entered at least one GA. But I also may bump for several of the reasons you mention:
I'll usually try to bump by replying to some other comment, but if there's nothing relevant, or if I haven't read much/anything, I'll just do a generic bump.

I bump for those exact reasons, thanks for not making me type it out.

This wasn't meant to be blame but gratefulness! D: You have shown me the error in my ways!
I could see this coming across as sarcasm, so just to be certain... Seriously I hadn't thought of it as spam before, but I could see it being annoying now. Thanks for making me bumpophobic.

I bump for all kinds of reasons...I enter a GA, the thread topic is cool, there's lots of funny activity and people should see it, karma (because I want people to bump my threads, too 🙃), or the OP was really generous (or maybe is a first-time giver) even if there's nothing relevant to me GA-wise.

When all the criteria below are met:

I usually bump randomly, when I have something to say or feel like spamming :D

I bump a good thread when it's off the visible page and has giveaways or a nice event.
Spam bumping the same threads over and over, and bumping 10 threads at a time is rude and inconsiderate to other thread creators on this forum. Post count is more important than common courtesy to some people, though.

I don't remember such a poll lately, shame on me if I missed anything.
Simple question, a lot of possible answers (if your reason isn't covered properly, please choose "Other:" and explain). When do you bump a thread at SG?
Do you sometimes bump discussions more than once? What is your bump rate, are you a proud royal bumper or a shameful bump-cheapskate? Do you resent people that don't bump or does excessive bumping annoy you? Is your blacklist involved here? Is the quantity of comments including bumps something that indicates the quality of a discussion or train in your opinion? And am I a nutcase for writing 'bump' so many times (did anyone count?)? Mandatory GA: /0xBXE/
