If the purpose of this poll is to find out which game you should buy if you can only get one at the moment, then just go with whichever you feel like playing. Although, given that the Sims is currently being sold at a 75% discount, you should maybe consider grabbing that while the offer's running.
Personally, I find Sleeping Dogs rather boring, so I voted for Sims, but I don't see why our personal opinions should matter when it comes to your choices.

In what way are you comparing these? They're aimed at different markets. It's like comparing sedans or trucks - neither is 'better' since they both have different uses.
Sims 3 is absolutely great if you enjoy playing god or building houses/towns. Sleeping Dogs is great if you enjoy action based games or causing havoc in an open-world environment. Both good in their own ways, neither is better.

Hit it, seal. But seriously, if you find TS3 enjoyable, that's ok, I liked first and second too. Then I decided there are too little ways of killing people and ended up playing only "real" games :P That's why my choice is Sleeping Dogs here- and hey, I am counting he will give away the game later :)
