Ultimately, she told her story on YouTube to try and help other kids and all she got was terrible comments from the scum of the internet.

All the irony makes my head spin, especially that last sentence. I'll just say this: There is an organization for helping out LBGT youths who are being bullied. This foundation is now extremely successful and has inspired tens of thousands of stories from LBGT and straight people to encourage teens who are LBGT to get through bullying. How did it start? It started because a teenager took his life from being bullied because he was gay. The 4chan poster claims that talking about Amanda won't help and is presumptuous enough to say that just because people go onto Facebook and talk about it doesn't mean they're not helping bullied kids that are still alive. Do you think this organization (It Gets Better Project, btw) would have been created if thousands of people hadn't been talking about the kid who took his life? If it made no impact on people on a social level? Probably not, organizations like this rely on social networking.

Sounds like one of those things where a lot of the pain was avoidable.

There are hundreds of problems facing humanity beyond just kids getting bullied in school. Any one person can't be aware of all these things and helping people facing each and every problem there is within society. Unless there is some more personal reason, you aren't going to wake up every morning and think about how to stop bullying, neither are voters, politicians, activists, teachers, etc. Buzz like this is good for facing the problems (even though what created the buzz is obviously not good), because it gets people as a whole on the same page at the same time so things can get done to address it (as I highlighted in my other post).

I think if she hadn't showed her boobs to the internet, this wouldn't have happened.

The point is that she tried to prevent this from happening by posting this video. Why do you think she posted this video ? Because not enough people made fun of her misery ? That video is very well done, and very courageous. And I'm sure it will help other people seeing they are not alone, and that a lot of people sympathize with her. I've never heard of this prior to just now.. I'm trying to watch the video but it's a bit slow. I've read most of the comments here, and I want to ask: How can anyone say their parents didn't love her? Does she mention something in the video that they don't? Cause from what I've seen it seems like they did if they've been willing to change schools up every time something happens...? No?

One thing I have to say I agree with from all of this is: "We should be talking about the ones who were bullied and managed to survive through it all. The success stories. Because that's what gives kids hope, the ones who know what it's like to be in their shoes. The ones who have walked that road before and came out ok."

Because if anyone wants to help, moping and focusing on what has already pasted and what cannot be undone will not do anything. :\ Help by talking to the bullied, etc. And as a person who was sometimes alone at lunch, I wasn't bullied. Don't assume everyone who is alone at lunch has been. BUT! I was alone in those cases because I was new to the school. Being military I moved all the time, so never had a stable place blah blah blah point is: it would be helpful to talk to people sitting alone; but would make a rather awkward situation if you assume that they're bullied because they're alone and that ends up being something you talk about lol.

Also: it is both HER and the guys fault. With the cheating. She says he told her that his gf was on vacation and to come over; it is her fault she pursued it further, but he is not to be free of blame. People/kids can be terribly stupid when they are "in love" or think people "love" them; doesn't mean she deserves being beaten up.

I think there's no point in blaming anyone on this all; it's done and over with. There's plenty of "should've, could've, would'ves" and plenty of "didn'ts." People are harsh, your actions make you who you are, people have nothing better to do than bully, c'est la vie. You have to look for the good parts in it all. Which can seem daunting, and impossible, but it is there. And we can make it easier to find by helping those in need and those who will hide and deny their need for help.

I was always wondering what happen with peoples outside, did school let you get bullied by month, let alone years? I live in Asia, and bullying is really really rare, and school won't let it happen. The peoples who bullying others probably get drop out from school if they found out. I mean does US school didn't care when one of their student get bullied constantly?
