There is an old forum post that does auto-thanks. I can't seem to find it, maybe i'm to lazy. I certainly don't do it, I either say something weird like peanuts in a pickle jar, and I actually type it.

There has been a number of times that I have tossed my name into giveaway and said thanks, only to pick up the game for real cheap before the giveaways are over. I would then go and unselect the game so that I would not end up breaking any of the rules if I happen to win. I didn't see any reason why I should have removed my thanks because I was thankful of the opportunity to win the game before I had actually owned it.

I have also said thanks on very generous giveaways of games I already owned and really enjoyed.
