Can this happen? If i buy the retail Borderlands, can I get steam DLC for it?

I don't think you can even buy it. IF you can even buy the DLC on Steam, you won't be able to use it or download it without getting the game on steam first. :/

Retail copies of Borderlands are not accepted by Steam. If you don't have the base game on your account you won't be able to purchase the downloadable content.
