I just think if we have a single thread to look at to see great deals it would be more common for someone to see a game cheap enough to pick up two copies one for them and one for here.

That Metro 2033 deal posted earlier is a good example of why it is needed. So many more people would have seen it to take advantage of if it was in a spot specifically for deals, most people always are on the lookout for good buys at low prices.

While I agree that there should be sub-forums for different topics on this site (something I'm sure CG will get to eventually), feel free to check out www.reddit.com/r/gamedeals for excellent, up-to-date, and frequent "deals." Also, check out the forums at www.cheapassgamer.com.

Edit: Not sure why the hyperlinks are screwed... all links wanted to add "www.steamgifts.com" to the prefix. Gonna use text links instead.

I don't think it's particularly needed considering the forum isn't that busy. If you want stuff designed specifically for deals, well, stealgamesales.com is the sister site to this place, and has more organized forums.

Does steamgamesales.com have a section for "steam activateable game deals" as OP asked? All I found there was listings for all the deals.

There is a GamersGate thread that I am keeping updated as their deals go, funny that Metro 2033 thread got all this attention and tons of people posting in it, even though the same deal was listed there 12 hours before that. Guess people prefer separate threads for everything.

Yes, not all games in the list on the main page are steam activated titles and the main page just displays price changes. However, steamgamesales also has a forums section, and in the sub-section labeled "offer and promotions" we post deals that we find interesting and/or are steam activated. When I agreed with bluelegion, I assumed he was not just referring to the main page of steamgamesales, where digital distribution prices are being tracked automatically, but also to the forums section on these topics where we post such offers as a topic for the benefit of the community.

So in a word, yes there is a section for that on steamgamesales. You post in the forums, but unlike here, where every post gets placed altogether, there is a specific subsection for that over there and hence it is more organized- people looking for steam activated deals can go there and (as long as our community continues to have people who strive to help others) find a post by someone who found a steam activated title from the discounts available. You can access the offers and promotions forum section here
