I would be deeply saddened if this is the case. I buy many multipacks on Steam and this would inconvenience my social gaming experience.
edit: I understand that one devs comment is hardly damning proof, but I have noticed the lack of multiplacks on multiplayer games recently.

Personally, it would have been more of a bummer for me if they didn't decide to region lock the copies from multiple pack purchases as well. Kind of sucks for games like the one you linked though, that looked INCREDIBLY fun with multiple people :(

Any better source than that? I don't see any reason for valve to discontinue 4 packs. It's a great marketing move to get extra sales. To me I don't really believe a single developers comment.

It definitely doesn't make sense. A friend of mine suggested it might be due to the refund policy creating problems when the desire for a refund isn't unanimous but as I see it simply limiting refunds to all or nothing transactions, i.e. you get a refund for every copy you bought or you get a refund for none of them, should eliminate that problem.

They should just make it so that 4-packs can't be refunded and make a warning pop-up informing user of that when he tries to buy 4 pack.
That would solve the problem with the refunds and would keep 4-packs alive which I personally don't care about but it's good for Valve and good for people that like playing games with friends.

It's definitely not official, hence the question mark in the title. that being said, as of a few weeks ago no new games added to Steam were getting 4packs anymore. I'll see if I can dig any more up on that. hopefully it's not official, I'd hate for them to be removed.

Uh huh ... Valve is going to discontinue multi-copy packs of games. I need more evidence before I am convinced. Even if this does happen, I'm sure the community will probably go in some sort of uproar again and convince Valve to reverse the decision (like with what happened to paid modding).
Anyway, as it stands, this could just be a developer building buzz so people buy a bunch of four-packs of their game when it comes out.

OT but...
Wanderlust Adventures: 14.99
Soundtrack 4.99
Game + soundtrack bundle: 19.99
One penny laziness tax?

I am not sure i would take the word of a post on a forum i am not saying it is not true but until valve says it so,or they are no longer on Steam then i might take notice.
Though i think most people use them to profit and exploit sales, but some games make sense for a 4 pack like Borderlands or any other game that has 4 play CO-OP or Online.,if the game has 3 player then 3 pack would be the way to go.
Besides what reason would Valve have to do it,as they would be turning away sales, about as bad as so many thinking Valve is against trading..which they are not other wise they would get rid of it all together and they never would have allowed it.

They try their very best to alianate paying customers but it doesn't seem to work. Please work harder Valve employees! Add e.g. ransomware to Steam or something similar.

That Dev isn't much of an official source to claim that Steam is discontinuing ALL 4-packs, some actual Valve announcement would be needed to make it believable. They already locked them to the region of the buyer (all gifts coming out of it) and they fixed the ways where people could buy a 4-pack without directly adding it to their library. Why would they go and remove them altogether at this point.. doesn't make much sense.

' + Valve is likely not to give a fuck about offering 4packs or not (region-locking wasn't their idea either - Devs request + real abuse)
' - yet Devs would, either its bad for business for obvious reasons, or good by gaining a playerbase (when the game's meh) or idk ...

There had been more rumors about 4-packs being discontinued back in the day. It could very well be true this time. I guess that Valve's trying to make it a bit more difficult for volume traders to turn a profit. However, they're ignoring everyone who's actually using 4-packs for their intended purpose and that's sure to stir up some discontent.
If there's an upside to this, it's that the Wanderlust Adventures dev is the only one openly talking about it (another example here). Let's hope it's just an unsubstantiated rumor and not a done deal.

I don't think it would be good for Valve to stop offering 4-packs. Even if they do that it's possible the community and developers would go crazy about it and then Valve would probably bring that feature back.
Also that game (Wanderlust Adventures) looks pretty nice. Too bad it's a multiplayer game. I'm a one man army so those games don't get my money.

That's a bit of a misconception there. Wanderlust Adventures isn't strictly multiplayer. Sure, it seems like more fun in multiplayer, but even in single player mode it is quite fun and addicting. I spent about 3 hours non-stop on it before realizing I REALLY went past midnight :)

If anything, I'm just going to say that I found it easier to play singleplayer blind as compared to a few Twitch streamers I watch who also played blind, but multiplayer...and got kind of wrecked with one of the quests. :P
Besides I'm pretty sure there are at least some devs that aren't so near-sighted so as to leave singleplayer relatively unbalanced in their games, and this one seems like one of them :)

There's now 4-packs on Humble Store for Wanderlust :)

UPDATE:
Some more developers are claiming that Valve is not allowing them to make four packs, the newest one I've seen is Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide, Armello also removed their four pack claiming Valve advised them it would devalue their game. There seems to be a lot of inconsistency to whether Valve is telling developers not to make four packs or if they are not just letting developers make four packs at all.
There is still no real proof other than the words of developers but it seems like more and more are claiming similar stories in regard to four packs.
OP: (Obviously unofficial) Source: http://steamcommunity.com/app/240620/discussions/1/535152511380144339/#c535152511380193797
So basically Steam is discontinuing four packs, and presumably any other multi-copy packs as well. I personally would imagine that packages like Divinity: Original Sin Digital Collectors but who knows? Also no word on whether games with already existing four packs will still have those grandfathered in or not...hopefully so since there are a number of them I'd like to buy yet.
So what do you think, is this bad news for you or doesn't it really effect you?
I personally don't trade, I'm not buying 4packs to try to make profit off of, I run a co-op/multiplayer group and I'm always buying 4packs for their intended purpose, to give the extra copies to my friends so we can play these games together. Very sad news for me, most of my purchases lately have been four packs, very few purchases have been anything else. I guess I'll have to count on sites like BundleStars to continue offering some #-packs for me to snag.
