I don't think Tier 3 is worth it no?

I'll get Tier 2 since it will get mystery bonuses.

Tier 3 is worth it if you like the games from it. Knights of Pen and Paper 2 is something that I would enjoy (as I got a lot of value out of the 1st one) and even during the current Steam Sale it's $4, which is just a tiny but less than the difference between tier 2 and 3. That extra dollar or so I paid got me the android version of the game and also both Steam and Android copies of Desktop Dungeons, which certainly looks interesting. It might not be "bundle value", but it's still a lot better than the current steam sale.

It's a nice RPG game, especially for any nerds who played (or just understand) DnD. It gets grindy toward the end, but I loved the person/class system, with things like "Grandma gets +threat since she's so loud" as a passive effect for whatever character you make using a Grandma. The humor was really nice, and the "choose your own quests/battles at any time" system is something I like, especially combined with the "visibly roll the dice for random effects, with ways to get +luck for rolls" sort of thing that you would think would appear in more games.

I'm going to start the 2nd one now, and can only hope it is as interesting as the 1st one was.

lowest price "$7.36 + $0.01 = $7.37"? where does the 0.01 come from?

You're right about it, Tier 3 is not a BTA, it's a fixed price. I guess Rachel will fix that small typo as soon as she notices your comment.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

no, it's NOT a fixed price. it's changing. the Tier 3 is Average Price PLUS three dollars

But right now it says:

Pay $8.53 (€7.70) (average price + $3) or more to unlock!

You don't have to beat $8.53 (paying $8.54) to get Tier 3. So the lowest price for Tier 3 was $7.36, not $7.37. As I said in my comment, nothing really alarming and just a small mistake.

I'm not sure if I explained myself :/

Proof (with Tier 3 at $8.53 as stated above):

Well, I was explaining myself to Porky up there what BTA is. I've put it on multiple threads, and this is the first time he's asked about it.

You are correct, you don't have to beat it, so I stand corrected on that one, but for BTA you do have to beat it. I'll change the OP.

You did explain yourself, but i'm just a bit tired and frustrated with some other things. No worries. Thanks for the explanation.

Sorry to bother you with such an irrelevant detail. This method of pricing the highest tier is not common on Humble Bundle, but I've seen it in a few bundles so far.

Besides this trivial thing and going back to real life, I hope those "other things" are not important and that you're ok :/

Comment has been collapsed.

oh no it's okay. It needed to be fixed, so thanks for pointing it out. Yeah, this is the very few times I've seen it so I was confused in the beginning (hence, see the poll option for Tier 2).

Sorry if i sounded upset. I am not! Thanks for understanding. Your presence on these threads always make me smile :)

And it's not trivial. If questions are asked, I do my best to respond! It's my job to help!

By the way, this raises a question (I'm curious)!

Imagine the bundle has just been launched and you're the first purchaser... How is the initial average price calculated? I missed the bundle launch, so I couldn't see it. Should it have been Tier 2 initial price ($3) + $3.00? Tier 3 was $6.00 at the very beginning?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Tier 3 was $9 initially

The always set the BTA / Average price to $6 in the beginning. Then it goes down ... and then back up later during the day.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

$0.01 is because you have to pay MORE than the Average price to get tier 3. a BTA Tier (see other bundles). If BTA is $0.05, you have beat the average to get that tier. You can't pay $0.05. you have to pay one penny MORE

edited: See above
BTA is where you need to pay one penny more. It seems Tier 3 is just the price you see, but it goes up and down depending on the average price at that time you buy it.

Knights of Pen and Paper 2

And again another base game that can't be upgraded to the "Deluxiest Edition". If you ever want it in your library, you'll need to repurchase it (and probably remove -meaning lose- the base game in order to be able to buy the "better" edition).

I really can't understand what is wrong with these people. Desktop Dungeons doesn't have an specific upgrade to the Special Edition but (from their FAQ):

Q: What about the DLC?
A: The DLC is only there so you can upgrade from Standard Edition to Special Edition. :)
If you don't want the soundtrack, you can save a tiny bit of money by buying Standard Edition and just adding the Goatperson DLC, this will give you all the gameplay Special Edition has. But you will miss out on that sweet sweet music! :(

They made it look so simple, they put to shame those other developers/publishers.

So in PC + Android bundle when they say it usually fetch up to ... do they count the steam keys price only or both steam + Playstore price?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Damn! I was considering buying "Please Don't Touch Anything" during the steam sale, and literally yesterday I watched a guide showing how to get every ending. If only I knew it would be bundled!

I'll get the top tier I guess. Knights of Pen & Paper 2 is something I'm interested in, since I enjoyed the first title. Please Don't Touch Anything will be fun in a year or two when I (hopefully) forget the solutions I saw. I already own both versions of Badland, but it IS a very good game. 100000000 was neat when I played it on Android a good 2 years back, a steam copy is OK. Hopefully the "Next Week" additions will be good.

Great bundle if you like puzzle / match-3 games. 10,000,000 and You Must Build a Boat are both excellent representations of the RPG / match-3 hybrid genre. I actually just bought 10,000,000 in the summer sale for an "unbundled" giveaway, but I ain't even mad 'cause I'm glad that more people get to play it now. :)

Not one, but two games that can't really be upgraded to their complete version? I won't get Tier 3, for sure!
Now, the Tier 2 at $3 is really interesting, my phone could really use something different from Angry Birds and Temple Run 2.

  • Anyone tried the Android games yet? The support page only mentions the minimum Android version required (and 1GB RAM for Badland).

But as usual, the €/$ exchange rate seems to plummet everytime I need to make an international purchase...
I'll most probablybuy it, but I'll wait for the exchange rate to rise a bit (and maybe for the week 2 unlocks to be unveiled).

Permalink

Well.. Afaik it only "damages" in a way that makes you have to play / idle the games for 2 hours before the card drops even begin. :p

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

When trying to card a three or four digits game amount, that's damage :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Suppose so. :) It's not that bad with idlemaster though since you can idle 30 games at once for the first 2 hours. And I normally play whatever game meanwhile, so it's not too bad really.

It's only annoying when you are playing a short game where you get every achievement before the 2 hours even passed, and you need to have it on forever to get the cards. THAT is annoying :P!

Thanks for the heads up! I already have that version of Knights of Pen and Paper, but the other two are new and look interesting enough, so I kept both. That means I kept eight out of eleven games, two being repeats and one not being my cup of tea. Already traded one of the repeats for a game I really wanted, and Knights might go to a friend of mine, so... I'd say I made out very well! =D
