And so it begins again. I have had my interest, AKA nosiness, piqued.

What are your top FIVE favorite video games you have ever played? On any platform. Any console. Any service.

I'd have to say mine are -
1- Faxanadu - NES
2- Giga Wing 2 - Dreamcast
3- Skies of Arcadia - Dreamcast/Gamecube
4- Wizardry 8 - PC (played before I heard about steam)
5- Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind - PC(played before I heard about steam)

A couple of honorable mentions-
Gaiaopilis - arcade (remember arcades?)
Sky Shark - NES
Golden Axe Warrior - Sega Master System
Guild Wars (original through Eye of the North). I guess my almost 8K hours means that I liked the game :P That and I was a closed beta tester for the original. God I hated the change of tabards to capes.

So, what are your top five games?

Small GA for y'all as well.

Also, a quick jigidi that ends on Halloween night.

You seem to be a Borderlands fan ^^ but did you actually enjoy Pre Sequel that much?
I found playing it tedious even with a friend, while I absolutely loved 1 and 2...haven't played 3 yet.

yeah I really did back then when it came out! I wanted to replay it not long ago but somehow wasn't into the mechanics (low-grav, slam) anymore, maybe my tastes have changed or it just feels weird returning to it after so many years? not sure.
recently finished the 3rd one which is nice when it comes to gameplay but meh as for the story, so yeah BL2 is my fav of all :)

Top 5? Wow, that's hard.

Top 5 in no particular order (as far as I can remember):
a. Baldur's Gate series: I keep coming back to this series every now and then...Or I did, until I finished a full SCS + LoB playthrough and I felt enough was enough. If I have to narrow it down, it would be Baldur's Gate 1 (although BG2 is where the real fun begins)

b. Mass Effect series: I've only played 1 through 3, but they don't make games like that anymore. If I have to choose one, then... Hm. Wow. It's hard to choose just one. I'd probably go for ME3, only because it's the epic finale of the story (aside from Andro which I didn't and probably won't play).

c. Dragon Age series: I spent so much time on these games I can probably still remember how to do animation cancelling in DAO even though it's been years I've played them. My favourite amongst the 3? DAO/Awakenings for sure.

d. KOTOR series: They are abit cheesy, but damn I love these games so much. I love SWTOR too, but the game brings back bittersweet memories so I don't play it now. My favourite is definitely KOTOR 1.

e. Bioshock series: The endings always give me goosebumps. My favourite is... bioshock 1, although I prefer the gameplay of the 2nd game

Honorable mentions
Danganronpa series: These games make me attached to some of the characters and then proceeds to kill them off. The game chronology is pretty wack too I have a love hate relationship with it. Mostly love though
Atelier series: I've only played Atelier Sophie but the gameplay is absolutely amazing and the characters are endearing. It is a very expensive series to get into though.
Fallout series: The ones made by Obsidian, the rest are contentious
Sid Meier's Pirates: A classic
Shin Megami Tensei series / Persona series. P3 is great, I've not played P4 or P5. Some of the SMT games (including P1 and P2) are a little too grindy for my tastes.
Deus Ex: The first game was a masterpiece, the subsequent games are kinda hit and miss
Skyrim: I've played all the TES games, but I liked Oblivion and Skyrim the most
Witcher 1: I've not the time to play 2 and 3
Shigatari: It's like FTL, but in feudal Japan. Also has a very unique combat system that I've never seen in any other game. I love it
Sang-Froid - Tale of Werewolves: beautiful, beautiful game with very unique gameplay
Undertale: so good it became mainstream
VA-11 HALL-A: there is a reason why this game hasn't gone on sale for 4 years, but still has overwhelmingly positive reviews
DDLC
Shadowrun series: I just like these kinds of games
Warframe
Jade empire: the mods make this game fun
Rune Factory series: Stardew Valley but with RPG-ish elements

That 'again' tells me you have an honorable past with the game. :) And now there is Bannerlord, it's not as nearly hardcore as Warband but still has the addiction part.

The fifth game is usually open to change from time to time, but the other four have been there since forever. I played them all on release date (except from Silent Hill which I played a year later if I remember correctly) and when I finished them I knew they would hold a special place in my memory.

  • Silent Hill (PS1)
  • Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (GameCube)
  • Dark Souls 1 (PS3)
  • The Last of Us 1 (PS3)
  • Undertale (PC)

Honorable mentions in no particular order goes to: Shadow of the Colossus (PS2), Divinity: Original Sin 2 (PC), Bayonetta 1 and 2 (Switch) and the Mass Effect Trilogy.

It is hard to choose favorite games, but I managed to choose the five I love the most. They are VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action, Detroit: Become Human, The Sims 3, Civilization IV and Overwatch.

I love DBH because it is a (real) choices matter and story heavy kind of game. It brings a very interesting element of politics, survival, racism, family, love and emotions together in a beautiful and dystopian universe where every decision you make can lead you to a different reaction, ending or problem. I played the game more times than I can count and I cry for at least 30% of the game every single time. The idea of fighting for freedom, for being accepted, for having the right to have a family and to help the ones that are like you are amazing. The game also wants to show us that androids and humans aren’t different. We are the same, we have emotions, we want to be alive and we just want the best for everyone else. I can’t even start to describe all the feelings this game brings to me.

VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action is just one of the most beautiful and touching games I’ve ever played. Apart from its simple drink serving mechanics and optional minigame, it is a story telling game. You can alter what will happen to each of the characters you meet during the game by serving the right drink at the right time to them. The universe the developers created for the game is so heavy and has so many eastereggs, details and hidden stuff that despite looking into the game a lot and researching on external sources such as r/waifubartending I still don’t know everything I want to. That is also one of the beauties from this game. It will leave a lot open to your imagination, you can decide what is going to happen after the story is over.

After some years avoiding the game (I have no clue why and I regret it everyday), I bought Overwatch last November. I love the game concept and lore. Their cinematics adds so much depth to the game. The community sometimes can be a more toxic than what I am used to, but that’s with most major team-dependent games.

The Sims 3 is such a masterpiece with so many options to choose that I become happy just by thinking about the game. The base game has a good amount of stuff to do, but the EPs are what brings the game life. A proud owner of all EPs and some collections too, I can tell you that playing this game since launch until today made me incredibly happy. My personal favorite EPs are the supernatural, world trip and future. I have so many good memories of playing the game with so many friends and some family members.

Civ IV is my favorite of the franchise by far. I saw the game first when my dad was playing it and I got really interested. Liking history, geography and politics as kid made the game my dream come true. I think I played all the leaders available at least once but I cannot let go of my true passion, Augustus Caesar’s Rome. I like to sometimes just stare at the screen and make stories about my troops or whatever situation my empire is going through.

I hope you have a beautiful night, take care mate ❤️

I'm always thinking about what are my favorite games and if they still are considering new games I play all the time. I think there are games that are your personal classics. Maybe cause you were younger and more impressionable or maybe cause it was just the right time to play them for whatever circumstances around your life then. That said...

Classic top five:

  • Starcraft
  • Civilization 2
  • Diablo
  • Resident Evil
  • Bladerunner

Last decade top five:

  • Fallout 3
  • Starcraft 2
  • Pathologic
  • F.E.A.R.
  • Civilization 5.

I guess I could easily do a top 50.

Never had a console myself, though I remember playing Metal Slug and Street Fighter in arcade machines when I was a around 8-10 yrs old. Built my PC at the of 24 so its fair to say I don't have any experience on classic games.

So from less than 200 games I played so far, these are my top ones:

Honorable Mentions:

  1. Saints Row 4

  2. Super Mario Galaxy

  3. Rocket League

  4. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

  5. Payday 2

  6. (barely under PD2) Undertale

It's incredible how my favourite game of all time is from a genre i don't really enjoy, an open world.
