My friends have told me before about their positive experience with the site. I want to buy a copy of Cities: Skylines Deluxe Edition to give away, but I have a few questions.

  1. Is it necessary to buy the shield? If I am giving it away there's no purpose to it, as I don't think they'll look at the winners screen days after the purchase.

  2. If the seller I choose doesn't give me a legit key, will I be able to delete the giveaway?

Any help would be great.

If you're planning to make a GA with it you will only find out if the key is working after the GA has ended. Once the GA has ended you need the winners permission to delete the GA.
So in the worst case the winner could insist that he gets his game and you'd have to purchase it again or take a "not received".

Afaik, on G2A you can buy steam gifts as well as keys, since it's just a reseller site.

There is still a small risk even with a Steam gift but I guess it's safer than a key. (although the vast majority of keys from G2A seem to be legit. I can't tell from personal experience because I've never bought there.)

  • The gift could be region restricted. (but you should be able to tell because of the red region restriction warning)
  • The gift could be purchased with fake credit card information which would lead to the game being removed from the winners libary once they find out.

Or if you do make sure it's something not too expensive that can easily be replaced if necessary.

Does it cost more than 20 Euros there? Because if it is, then you are being ripped off. :)
And if it costs significantly less, then it is very likely that the key "fell off a truck".

This game was never cheaper than 20 USD on any legitimate sites. I cannot stop you from using the grey market, but keep in mind that things that are cheaper than in any store ever don't just grow on trees, they had to be acquired somehow. And if it costs third of the cheapest legit one… well…

It is even cheaper than it ever was on the Russian Steam, but those Steam gifts are now only playable for people living in the CIS territory.

Gifts are, but keys can still be global, even if sold through Russian store fronts.

Digital products are rarely like buying physical ones where people want to sell much to get more storage space back. :)

Where? When? o.O
The reason I like IsThereAnyDeal is that it monitors all legit resellers, even quite obscure ones. And the lowest they have in their database is $18.49 at gamesrocket. Not even close to that 7 euro range.

7€ is definitely a scam. But it was cheap on nuuvem on summer sale. Also GMG has some good deals if you use a voucher on a discounted games. And of course there's g2a and other similar re-sellers.

Been there, done that. G2A seems cheaper but not authorized nor legit meaning costlier in long run.

Just be prepared to face off consequences, if the G2A bought gifts, key or steam gift, revoked and removed from winner's library...

too much of a hassle in my opinion, if you are buying it for personal use then any problems can be easily fixed. however for gifting, i don't think so.
