Comment in this topic may and will contain spoilers to newest GoT episode.

So what do you think? For me it was first really good episode of this season. Ending of previous one was great as well, but rest was meh, but now seems like this season is starting to get better.

Also... HOLD THE DOOR!

no time or just waiting for all episodes to get released so you can binge-watch whole season at once? ;p

at one hand it is funny, on the other feels kind of awkward. So far the only comedy relief in the series was Tyrion, we got used to him, now we get another comedy relief with Tormund and I'm not really sure if he feels right in this role for me ;p

It's both funny and awkward yeah. (The awkwardness is what makes it funny I think? For me at least)
Torienne is already a meme, but I hope there will be something serious between them in the series too^^
But I get what you mean. I guess we'll just have to wait and find out :)

I actually dropped the show 2 seasons ago (sorry i got bored) but then this morning I read that thing you're talking about and i was like "wtf is that all about" and went to watch the episode. It even made me curious and i'm pondering if i should catch up

Well I think the first 2 episodes where already pretty good. I totally agree that the third and fourth episodes where kind of meh and although I loved the end of the fourth episode I really dislike some of if. The fire spread way to fast and the entire building burns to fast... I mean there was just some fire on the ground and seconds later everything is burning like hell. It looked great of course but it still felt wrong.

I totally agree with you that the 5th episode is the best so far this season maybe even one of the best in the series.

for me it may be one of the best in the series, but that's only because I read books before watching any of the series, so so far I knew most of the plot twists beforehand and was not really surprised, and ones I didn't kjnow cause they got invented by show runners were kind of minor ones. Now as show cover things not published in books yet for the first time ever I have absolutelly no idea what is going to happen ;p

But still I believe that Red Wedding scene/episode was the best one so far. Even if I knew exactly what was going to happen, the mere first accords of Rains of Castemere still sends shivers down my spine :>

I'm in the same situation but now I'm afraid new books will contain same things as the show.
I don't see George Martin using other plot than 'hold the door' one for Hodor.

yeah - Hold the Door is pretty much destined to become part of the books and thus so is whole time-travel thing as well. We got ourselves quite a big spoiler of the books this way I believe.

I'm also frustrated that Three-eyed Raven died because it means no more time travels - we almost got to Tower of Joy last time just before they had to go back. Now we will never get to see inside of it, and it was sooo close to confirming one of the biggest if not the biggest theory of the series :/

I don't think that excludes any more time travel, Bran already learned how to do it all he'll need is some weirwood

I have a feeling that Bran actually is Three-eyed Raven and at some point he will literally become him after another time-travel. After the hair cut they even look quite similar.

Really disliked the ending (the Hodor bit was okay, the zombie invasion was not), Mr Freeze needs to go back to Buffy ASAP. Apart from that I like Melisandre v2.

I liked zombie invasion part maybe not from plot perspective, but damn was it an epic looking scene! :D:

It was more messy than epic IMO. The lack of lighting made if very hard to understand what exactly was going on. Also, lol at gathering an entire army just to get rid of a child. This guy follows every bad trope about stereotypical villains, please let him die from a campfire or something and let the series focus on interesting characters :/

Why assume he is a villain? ;)

Because he acts like one. Why assume he's not? The Walkers in the series are nothing like those of the book. We've never seen them do anything but fighting or being edgy overlords.

I will never understand why you people willingly emotionally traumatize yourselves by watching shows like that. It's like some kind of mental masochism. O_o

At least when I get traumatized it's because whatever I was watching does an unexpected switch in tone. So, I have to ask- Do you believe in destiny? (Let's see who'll get that one. :P )

Comment has been collapsed.

well, some people are looking in their popculture for entertainment only, others are looking for emotions in general. I personallylove getting emotional over a TV Show / movie / game / book etc. For me it';s the main reason to get invested with them in the first place :>

emotionally traumatize?
i think someone lives in a bubble.
nothing can emotionally traumatize me unless i experience it first hand.
watching a movie where people get held hostage by bank robbers is not the same as being a hostage in a bank robbery.

you probably haven't had much exposure to real traumatic experiences in your live (or watched the news they are way worse than GoT)

define destiny?

Comment has been collapsed.

I was referring to the image in the OP. :P
And what if I do? Sure, I haven't experienced first hand any too awful stuff (yay?) and attempt to avoid informing myself about what happens globally (big help that is when the internet exists and I end up finding out anyway), but I do the latter since I'm extremely cynical and generally expect only bad news from everything. That's why I don't understand why people would like watching shows that are literally made to cause them sorrow. If you want sorrow, just look at the news. What's the point in making yourself miserable by watching fiction when reality is already super efficient at doing that? (I guess you could say that it's just fiction, so it's not real, but it is presented in a way to cause you a real sense of sadness.). :/
Anyway, I think you misinterpreted what I meant to say, sorry if I wasn't clear.

Um, by the destiny thing I was referring to a line from RWBY (waaah, no-one got my "clever" reference). Let's say the last volume (season)... got really really dark and didn't go well for everyone involved.

I partially agree, partially not. I was not the biggest fan of last season either, but I blame it partially on half of it covering imho the wweakest book (Feast for Crows) and partially on much much more shortages and cut offs compared to previous seasons (last season covered what? almost 2 klongest books,m while previous seasons were 1 book or less per season). I think that both you and me may be overjudgemental of last season and this one, because as the book readers we also judge how much it derrived from the book story. On the other hand, objectively looking it still remains one of the best made (technically-wise) shows available, with craze high budget and it is simply pleasure to look at it.

they will stop pretty soon I guess - not many Direwolfs left to die ;) There is Ghost and maybe Nymeria (thou we didn't see her on the show for a looong time, plus there was no Arya-Warg theme in show neither). Actually I found Summer's deaqth kinda symbolical. Summer Dies, Winter Came

At first I was shocked. I mean - Hodor appears at the very beginning of the series and finally - we know his story. And many people were traumatized by the way it was shown.. but all of them miss one thing that actually pisses me off.
Time travel bullshit.
This actually ruined this ending for me.

So.. Hodor was carying Bran all the way to the tree. I mean - without Hodor - they would die 10 times already. And then - when they were running from the zombies (seriously? can't we have decent fantasy book/show without zombies xD) Bran actually created HODOR.
When did it start?
On alternative universe where Bran had functional legs and went there on his own foot?
On first timeloop - Hodor was not a Hodor - but just loyal companion of young Stark?
Some alternative universes/timeloops bullshit.

This is lame.

I personally see nothing wrong with the time travel thing, but as a Whovian I'm used to all kind of time-travel Paradoxes. What we have here is a simple paradox in form of time loop - the moment the time loop is created and irt is consistent (aka not internally contradictory) it can be. Keep in mind that what you see is from the perspective of already existing time loop, time loop may have originally happen in the timeline that was different from curtrent one - we don't know how but we don't need to know, Bran could have created time loop in infinite number of ways, the moment he did it is consistent - as a time traveler he can modify past. by modifying past he can also modify his own past and current time, the result of this may be him modifying thre past in the same way and we have infinite time loop. The only way that could break it would be if his modification would change something in a way that he never becomes time traveler. I actually dig this a lot. Not a fan of zombies thou (well, mixed feelings, I loved how epic the scene looked, loved it from technical standpoint, but I do agree that we don't need another zombie horde in another show - oldschool undead warriors were working just fine).

Luckilly it's just a part of the story :) I'll have to live with that :)
Time paradox and zobie horde... Meh.
On the other hand those blue undead guys are amazing xD

about the zombies...
They do need a common enemy in these series.
It will all end in one final battle, the 3 Targaryens with a united army vs the smurfs.

I wasnt too thrilled when they were introduced in the books, but its done quite well so I no longer have a problem with it.

This was a great twist to the story...the mind F*&#( is that Bran was destined to cause
Hodors seizure by traveling back in time for too long a time. It's an infinite cycle....
Now i wonder, if the Bran actually IS / Always WAS/ the 3 eyed Raven, and was only showing himself, Bran,
how to harness these powers.... putting the 3 eyed Raven in an infinite cycle himself. :)

I don't - he wasn't happy to do it, but at the same time he didn't have any other choice - if he didn't sacrifice Hodor what would happen? They would all die anyway. Heck - as Bran is supposed to play a big role in defeat of White Walkers it could mean not only all 3 of them dying, but defeat and death of all Westerosi. Sacrificing Hodor was the only option - if he didn't hodor would die anyway, as well as Bran, Meera and possibly all humans on the continent ;)
