DayZ GOG question

So I'm thinking of buying Arma 2 Combined Operations while it's on sale at GOG. But does anyone know if you can play DayZ with the GOG version and if you can, can 2 people play using the same copy at the same time? Me and my brother want to play lan.

I don't know if it works with the GOG but i do know that you would need 2 copies. ;)

Yes; Also worth noting that the Standalone Alpha version of DayZ will be coming in "2 weeks to 2 months" according to the creator of the game. The Standalone will be an Alpha in the truest sense, as in things will break quite often. So, if you're willing to deal with things breaking on occasion in return for a better game overall, then you should wait for the standalone.

quickie edit: It will also be cheaper than Arma 2 Combined Operations according to the creator.

is this really confirmed?? from 2weeks to 2 months??

Cuz I'm thinking of getting Arma II CO in the steam summer sales os in two weeks time.. I would mind waiting less than 2months if is really the case..

Also any idea on how the game will come out at first?? I know it will be buggy but how far from lets say the final game.. Basically will it be somewhat playable and enjoyable?

dayz is just a mod, it will probably work. use dayz commander (guess you can play it without steam)

Just found out you can with the GOG version, just want to know if it matters if we're using the same serial key.

Since the Characters are identified via CDKEY,you can't play at the same time as someone else with that Serial.Not on the same and not on a different Server ["CD Key already in use")

As was said previously DayZ uses the GUID(serial)to assign a character in the hive's database, so you can only have one char per hive.
