For me it would probably be either Lode Runner or Odyssey: The Compleat Apventure. The original Karateka also took a lot of my time back then.

Feud or Daley Thompson's Decathlon on the Spectrum 48k. Although I was almost 16 by the time I bought the Speccy, so only just qualifies for childhood I guess lol :D Did have a ZX81 prior to this but never managed to get a game to work on the darn thing..

The original Sonic on the Genesis, as well as Road Rash on the same console.

Hmm... it's kind of a toss up between the first Gauntlet, which i spent hours upon hours playing. Missile Command for Atari... and R-Type.... difficult to choose one...
OH and friggin' 007 for n64... gods I miss that game.

Bionic Commando for the nes was pretty sweet...but Chrono Trigger takes the cake for me
