Yep Gaben himself confirmed that Dota 2 will be Free 2 play but it may have Tf2 like business model.

Dota 2 cannot compete with giants like LoL and HoN if the game is P2P so it's only logical way...
still , many people say dota 2 is dissapointment. I won't judge game untill i try it

A dissapointment in what way? there is nothing new and exciting to be expected from it, yet it is far more polished than any of the new ARTS games available now, you're right though, if they'd picked a P2P model....it would have hurted the competition and eased it for HoN, LoL and others.

I guess you'll see it when you play it, i'm waiting for my friends to pick it up as soon as it is available so we can get back into it.
