I saw two posts about this scam on /r/Steam and at least one of them was about a dad's kid who fell for it as he was asking help from the subreddit.

Edit: As for bypassing Steam Guard, that is a manual action performed by the victim more likely than an automatic disable of Steam Guard. The mistake between the user and the keyboard kind of deal.

Steam only showing notification on the device you last used is a feature, not some kind of hack.

They'll keep going until people stop falling for it. And then a while longer because it takes no effort and you might just find a new generation of victims.

Basically: Don't take candy free games from strangers. It might be drugs account theft.
